This intensive hydrator optimises water circulation throughout all layers of the skin and reduces moisture loss. Hyaluronic acid and ceramides boost the cells Natural Moisturising Factor increasing moisture retention and reducing moisture loss. Your skin is plumped, repaired, replenished and nourished leaving an even, dewy complexion. Marine Samphire energises and illuminates by increasing cell renewal and skin oxygen levels. Collagen is stimulated, resulting in a lifted, smooth, even skin tone.

This is a dreamy antioxidant serum. I actually had a full size bottle I purchased a few months ago just waiting for an open slot to be able to use it. This box gave me a reason to pull it out and just go for it. It has a creamy serum texture thats hydrating and smells heavenly. It’s most definitely got a green herbal essential oil scent. It’s slight and nothing bothersome for me. This has an amazing inci list that includes prickly pear oil (one of my favs), sodium hyaluronate, ceramide 3, pullulan, superoxide dismutase, vitamin E, malachite, ferulic acid & quercetin. I love the black glass bottle. It does have a dropper dispenser that I wish was a pump. If you like green skincare this is truly the epitome of antioxidant serums.

Beauty Heroes does an interesting talk about 1st and 2nd Generation Antioxidants on their blog HERE. I copied the details for you:

1st Generation Antioxidants – The Defenders

A 1st generation antioxidant protects our cells from metabolic activation, which means that they prevent toxins and oxidants from reacting with our cells, binding to our DNA and becoming mutagenic or carcinogenic.  This is, no doubt an important function.  You can think of these antioxidants as the defenders who are constantly working to keep stress from changing the optimal functioning of our cells.  These antioxidants are often referred to as enzymatic antioxidants.  If we look at this month’s Hero product, Intense Nurture Antioxidant Elixir you will find first generation antioxidants  that guard against pollution – ferulic acid (derived from rice bran) and superoxide dismutase, produced from bio fermentation.

2nd Generation Antioxidants – The Detoxifiers

2nd generation antioxidants trigger our antioxidant response helps our cells detoxify and rid our cells of environmental toxins, so they don’t build up and cause further damage to our cells. They function as scavengers and detoxifiers, identifying and expelling the molecules that may be harmful to our cells. In Intense Nurture Antioxidant Elixir, malachite (copper) extract and quercetin derived from sophora japonica flowers were chosen specifically as second-generation antioxidants.  Other common second-generation antioxidants are vitamin C, E, alpha lipoic acid, carotenoids and flavonoids.

Per the de Mamiel site:

Malachite: a potent detoxifying semi-precious stone, it boosts and strengthens the skin’s natural defence against free radicals and toxic compounds.

Superoxide Dismutase: an enzyme naturally present in the body which stimulates the cell renewal process for a healthy and youthful skin.

Ferulic Acid: with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and the ability to chelate heavy metals. Found in Rice Bran Oil, it delivers outstanding protection against pollution, irritation and premature ageing.

Quercetin: deeply antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, it improves the skin’s repair mechanisms by accelerating Keratinocyte and fibroblasts migration which are responsible for regeneration and repair.

The sidekick is the Exhale Daily Hydrating Nectar. I already own a full size of this one. Details per Beauty Heroes:

A base of light fractionated coconut oil blended with all organic black currant seed oil, jasmine, camellia, squalene and rosehip seed oil provide a silky, breathable and blendable texture. An herbal infusion of marshmallow, gotu kola, yarrow, arnica, alstralgus, elder and licorice deliver a powerful dose of phytonutrients and minerals to boost skin immunity and protection throughout the day. Sheer enough for most skin types, the subtle sheen blurs imperfections and evens skin tone.

This product could be a sunscreen and lotion combo for some. It has a thicker lotion texture and is tinted so no white cast from this physical sunscreen combo. Zinc tends to dry me out a touch in physical sunscreens. That’s really helpful in the summer for me as it also helps control oil throughout the day. I used this a ton last summer for that reason. It’s perfect on those really humid days in Texas. I found this wasn’t hydrating enough for me to be a lotion and sunscreen in one nor is it tinted enough to be a tinted moisturizer. It makes a great sunscreen & makeup base for foundation. That’s it’s best function. This also blurs imperfections to a degree. It has a ton of really nice ingredients, though it does contain essential oils like all de Mamiel products (she is an aromatherapist so it’s to be expected). I don’t find the oils bothersome at all they’re not overpowering in anyway. It has a strange earthy herbal scent, not like anything I’ve encountered before. It will either be OK for you or not. The product itself is amazing and I quite like it as a tinted natural sunscreen/makeup primer. You’ll see me in it all summer long.
