Aromaleigh Eyeshadows Part 2: Antler Velvet, Veneer, Chrysalis, Cygnus: Review & Swatches

I talked about Aromaleigh here and here. Antler Velvet is described as a lush, satiny soft buff brown, with metallic copper highlights, green/red mid tones and a smoked khaki undertone. I guess that’s accurate. It’s pretty complex. It is like a metallic pewter shade with red shimmer, no glitter. It’s not metallic in the sense of lots of shimmer, it feels like what ground metal would look like. Like what the old school MAC Brass pigment was like. Antler Velvet reminded me of that pigment except more unique in the color shifts. This one is listed as lip safe. I grabbed a 1/8t sample baggie for $1.25. I will be buying a full size. This one is pretty pigmented.

Veneer is described as a sheer, pale copper with a strong copper duochrome; it’s meant to be like the glow of firelight, inspired by the gorgeous cinematography on the show. That’s pretty accurate. There’s no glitter just a copper glow. This and Antler Velvet are my favorite eyeshadow shades so far. I will grab a full size of this one next time I order. The shade is listed as lip safe. This would make a cool lip shade, I’ll have to test that out. This one is sheer to moderately pigmented.

Chrysalis is described as a soft greige with iridescent sparkle and shimmer. We like to think of this shade as a “veil” to wear over other colors, or on it’s own as a delicate highlight. That feels accurate, it’s a cooler sheer light shimmery grey with multi colored micro glitter. It’s too glittery for my tastes. It has some fall out. It’s listed as lip safe. This one is sheer.

Cygnus is described as unique- it appears to be a brown-based neutral but it goes on as a rich pewter, with cocoa undertones. It has a rich rose/violet duochrome. That’s accurate, it feels like a metallic deep purple taupe with some rose and brown in the sunlight, as well as some silver or white shimmer highlights. There’s no micro glitter in this one. It’s a lovely shade, a little too cool for my preference but taupe lovers will love it. This one is pretty pigmented.
