The theme for the August Sephora Play! subscription box is The Innovators. From a breakthrough blending tool to cutting-edge hair care, we’re bringing you advanced formulas and high-tech products from brands that are paving the way for the future of beauty.
It comes with a cute fabric bag. The Sephora Play! bags are quite good in general. Inside is:

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Beige Highly pigmented foundation with e coverage of a concealer, smoothness of a liquid, and a weightlessness of a powder.
Lancer The Method: Polish Effective skin-resurfacing treatment uses natural plant enzymes and microdermabrasion crystals to reveal radiant skin.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo Powered by a new, patented molecule, this effective dry shampoo absorbs excess oil and makes hair look and feel refreshed.
Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue This fresh, citrusy scent channels the sunshine-filled Mediterranean Sea with notes of bluebell, white rose, and amber.
I really liked this insert that came with it. It lists The Elements of Beauty and has quite a few ingredients with quick tidbits about what they are found in and what they are best for. It’s very easy to understand and perfect for the basic skincare lover.
Here’s the basic product info:
I’ve used the micro mini beauty blender. I already have one in my stash. I love the full size sponge and the micro is a perfect size for concealer and highlighter. I never really use mine I tend to use a concealer brush or my fingers for highlighter. I forget to reach for it and it adds a step and extra time to my routine, that’s more so why I never grab it. It’s a nice tool if you have enough time in the morning. Ella just destroyed mine so perfect timing to get a new one.
I’ll use the Clinique mascara. I think I’ve tried it before and liked it. I’m not into the lash primers at all. Too much of a spidery effect for me. I already own the Hourglass Vanish foundation in Beige. It’s a bit too dark for me half the year. I do like it but I’ve been dying to try Sand or a shade lighter than Beige. I actually have never tried the Lancer polish. At least not that I can remember. I love pumpkin enzymes but I’m not a huge manual exfoliator lover. I prefer acids. I’ve had this for two weeks and haven’t touched it yet.
I always love giving a dry shampoo a try. This one was on my wish list to try. I do like it, it’s not too drying or anything. Not too powdery. Gives some nice volume too. It does have a white cast. Not the most severe white cast I’ve used in a dry shampoo but it’s significant enough for me not to grab a big one. I prefer the invisible ones. I’ve used Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue in the past. It’s a nice light feminine floral sea scent.
Overall this box was OK. None of the items were ones I was really excited about beyond the dry shampoo. While I love the foundation I already have a big one. Review here. The fragrance is a bit too floral for me, I’ve traded it out of my stash for other more true sea scent scents. The beauty blender is a good item I just never reach for mine. The lash primer is a waste for me and the polish is OK. Check back for my samples & empties posts for final thoughts on these items.
