I’m not a big bronzer user. I don’t use it everyday, but now and then I like a good natural looking one. I started with the Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons in Blondes. It has four shades you can mix to get your perfect bronze year round. I tend to mix all four shades together. I don’t notice much difference between using one side versus another, on my face they all end up looking the same. Only one quarter is shimmery, the rest are matte. Overall the effect is not shimmery which I like in a bronzer. The texture is silky, smooth and finely milled. It looks natural. The Guerlain does have a slight orange cast to it which I’m not a fan of. It’s expensive at $76.
Next I tried MAC Extra Dimension Bronzer in Aphrodite’s Shell. I saw the packaging and got suckered into the hype for this collection and ordered it. I thought it would be too pink for me, but it actually looks very natural, more so than the Guerlain. It’s a slightly shimmery pinked bronzer shade. I could see this being good for light to medium skintones, for more neutral to pink tones as well. Yet as I said above it works as a great natural looking bronzer for my yellow toned medium complexion. It gives me a light bronze. The texture is light, it applies evenly and is finely milled. The shimmer does not show up on my skin like some shimmery bronzers do.
I then decided to order the MAC Delphic Extra Dimension Bronzer for a darker shade. This is a darker more yellow toned bronzer with gold shimmer. This is a good shade for me, it’s almost a touch too dark, even in the summer for my medium skintone. This would be great for medium to darker skintones. This one might be too much for light skintones, unless you have a light hand and like a prominent bronzer. The texture is the same, finely milled and light. I would love to see this bronzer repromoted next year and maybe have a shade in between the two.
