Chanel Le Signe du Lion Illuminating Powder in Or Rose

Chanel makes some of my favorite highlighters. There’s something about their highlighters that are so special-like little treasures. The limited edition designs and patterns are so hard to mess up by using. I refuse to buy makeup anymore that I won’t use, I don’t collect to not use. I used to. So I mess all mine up eventually. I do feel a bit of pain when I make that first swipe. However, it usually dissipates with that first “ooooo how pretty”. The next highlighter I added to my Chanel arsenal is the Le Signe du Lion Illuminating Powder in Or Rose. Details per Chanel:

A universally flattering powder highlighter that gives skin a subtle, ethereal glow with a soft-rose or pearly-white shimmer. Embossed with the design of a majestic lion, the sign under which Gabrielle Chanel was born, the exquisite illuminating face makeup creation comes in a rare, limited-edition burgundy compact. A chanel.com exclusive.

These Chanel highlighters are never cheap. This one runs $70. They are always excellent quality and I love that Chanel doesn’t scent their highlighters with that french perfume like they do their blushes. This particular highlighter comes with a deep red top instead of the usual black. As always the Chanel logo is on the top. This one comes with a semi-circle brush on the side. I always find these brushes worthless and they never get used. I prefer my Wayne Goss The Air Brush or the newly discovered Sonia G. Sculpt Three fan brush. Both are great at applying a small amount of powder and allowing for a natural look and build up of color.

The Le Signe du Lion has a geometric or abstract lion face as its design. Love it. The color is a light neutral shimmering rose gold. It was a bit more intense and frosty than I expected. It’s very pigmented and you can overdo this easily if you use a brush that lays down a lot of color in one swipe. Stick to the less dense softer haired brushes to apply this one.

There’s no glitter just an intense shimmery almost frosty feel to this highlighter. The texture is also a bit harder. No powdery feel at all. It’s very similar to Plisse Lumiere de Chanel. I find Dentelle Precieuse to be softer and less frosty than the other two. You can see Le Signe du Lion Or Rose is a bit lighter actually than Plisse Lumiere de Chanel. The highlighter lasts all day and I have no issues with fading. It’s finely milled and as always has that high Chanel quality.
