Colleen Rothschild is a new to me brand I discovered this year. I’ve always heard of them but just never gotten around to trying it. I grabbed a few items to try with the Sheer Renewal Cream being the first I dived into. This cream is one of their best sellers and has earned a Beauty Shortlist Award for 2017 for Editor’s Choice. I was intrigued to buy this cream because it was a best seller and a Beauty Shortlist winner, plus it boasts weightless hydration while minimizing lines and boosting cell turnover. This has a thicker lotion texture or lighter cream. It’s not heavy at all and is perfect for all skin types and climates really. Oily skin could use it in the winter as it’s oil free and not heavy. Combo skin can use it any time and just adjust oils or other layers to make it work out. Dry skin might find this not enough in the winter but can use it in the summer. The fragrance is minimal I barely notice it at all. This isn’t greasy, sinks right in and hydrates while managing to give a satin matte finish. I love that does have that satin matte velvety feel once it dries down but doesn’t dry me out, like other semi matte finishes. It’s nice to apply makeup on top of this.
The packaging is a simple metal tube and you get 2.5 oz for $55 which is a good deal. Plus Colleen Rothschild does a lot of deals and percentages off. It’s easy to find a 20% off code. There’s even one going on right now. I love that this cream uses lactic and malic acid. Those mild fruit acids will help increase cell turnover and reduce wrinkles. I had no issues using an acid toner plus using this lotion. This wasn’t strong enough to irritate me by applying it after an acid toner. This cream layers beautifully with everything. I loved it for the summer and fall seasons. I’m not using it this winter. I have a ton of heavier creams I want to play with, that I can only use in the winter, and so this is pushed aside until spring.
Syn-Tacks is a compound containing two peptides–palmitoyl dipeptide-5 diaminobutyloyl hydroxytheronine and palmitoyl dipeptide-6 diaminohydroxybutyrate. These peptides are supposed to help in anti-aging by stimulating collagen production in your skin thus reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Detoxophane is extracted from Swiss garden cress sprouts which contains sulforaphane which activates detoxifying enzymes. That’s for environmental defense and good in anti-aging products. All I can find on Colleen’s site about her Level E3 is this: Level E3 extends the effectiveness and efficiency of every ingredient as it’s needed, where it’s needed. It’s a skincare system that’s stunningly simple, yet from a chemistry perspective, incredibly complex. Maybe it’s a delivery system for the ingredients.
