This week was all about curing my cold, rest and soothing my skin at night. During the day it was all about keeping my makeup from melting off my face in the summer humidity. Bioderma Matricium is this water light ultra-repairing liquid. It basically protects, repairs and stimulates cellular regeneration by providing the skin cells their essential nutrients. It’s not available in the US so you must buy from overseas. I use this whenever my skin is feeling inflamed, sensitive or reactive. Which isn’t very often. I actually used it all winter long to soothe that dry feeling associated with artificial heat. I also pull it out whenever I have a cold. When I’m feeling run down my skin can get more sensitive. This soothes that feeling and helps get my skin through that period of weakness. Review HERE.

YOU Skincare is a favorite brand of mine. They pre-launched a Multivitamin Restorative Face Balm last month. Sadly it’s sold out now but it will be back in the fall so don’t worry. A multi-function product. This has texture of a balm with little butter spheres that melt into a smooth golden syrup upon contact. With a balanced fatty acids profile, rich in vitamins A, Bs, C, D, E, K, flavonoids, lycopene, carotenoids, and phytosterols it is excellent for inflamed skin and help improves moisture and skin’s barrier, prevent Transepidermal water loss (TEWL). The Retinol in this formulation is in liposome form. It’s more stable and less irritating. This has a light balm texture. It’s not a heavy or greasy one. It left my skin so supple and hydrated in the morning. I need to play more with it. Balms are a little heavy for me right now with the heat but I needed the extra moisture this week due to my cold.

Naturallogic is a new found brand for me. I’ve been playing with a few of their products and for the last few weeks I’ve been using their PRO V Fortify Serum at night. This orange oil includes some of my nourishing favorite oils: Hemp, pumpkin, tamanu plus broccoli, tomato and beta carotene. This is an antioxidant oil that provides high amount of vitamins A & E. This has a medium weight texture perfect for summer nights or winter days. It’s also on sale for 20% off right now as Naturallogic is switching to dropper-less bottles now. Excited for that packaging and I would easily buy this again. More to come on this whole brand.

I was ecstatic when Fresh Beauty sent me their Sugar Lemon Body Lotion. It’s been on my wishlist since Caroline Hirons always mentions it. It’s got a light to medium texture that sinks in and hydrates beautifully. No heavy or greasy feel. It has a light lemon sweet scent to it so it’s perfect for summer. Sally Hershberger is a new brand to me. I was sent a few things to play with. I pretty much live in texture sprays and dry shampoo. The 24K Supreme Stylist Voluminous Dry Shampoo is quite good. It goes on invisible with no powdery feel. It’s not as drying as lots of other dry shampoos out there. I tend to find lots of dry shampoos powdery and they suck the life out of my hair, but not this one. More to come.

Make P:rem Capsule Sun Gel is one of my all time favorite sunscreens for summer. This serum textured sunscreen goes on completely clear. It’s clear, as lightweight as it gets for sunscreen, and it’s utterly perfect for summer. Review HERE. I wasn’t able to give Jordan Samuel Skin The Performance Cream a full test run when it launched in the winter due to how lightweight it is. It’s perfect for the current hot weather. This cream has a light texture and a simple but powerful inci list: green tea water, squalane, three peptides, sodium hyaluronate, chamomile and olive leaf extract. It’s also completely affordable.

Bourjois Happy Light Matte Serum Primer is something I discovered last summer. I just pulled it out again for this hot weather. This has such a light texture and it mattifies the skin in a non-drying way. This helps control oil all day long. Some matte primers are too mattifying for me, others too powdery in texture. This one feels like skincare which I like. Sadly it seems to have been limited or discontinued as I don’t see it in stock anymore. I’ve never actually bought a RODIN Olio Lusso product before but their summer mermaid collection was too pretty to pass up. The Mermaid Illuminating Powder is simply stunning. It melds a shimmering lavender with light peachy beige for a complex neutral shimmer. The powder has a lightweight airy gel powder texture much like a lot of the new generation powder highlighters. It’s a powerful highlight minus the glitter (yes!). Plus who can resist the mermaid embossed onto the powder. More to come.

Burberry just launched a new stick foundation called Fresh Glow Foundation Gel Stick Foundation & Concealer. I started with shade 28 Warm Beige. It turns out 26 Beige is the best match for my NC25-27 skin tone. I love how lightweight and refreshing this is to apply. It cools on contact when it touches the skin. This does have more of a lightweight gel texture than a traditional creamier foundation stick. I found the best way to apply is to do one overall layer and let it set then move onto layering more on the areas where I need it. If you add layers too quickly you can’t build it up as well. You still only get light coverage out of this, but you can build it up more in the needed areas. This is perfect for summer because it cools, isn’t greasy or heavy and it has a satin finish that actually lasts quite well once it sets. I was pleasantly surprised by it. More to come.
