Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Lipstick: Surreal Sun: Review & Swatches

I have to admit I haven’t bought or even looked at an Estee Lauder item for many years. I saw a review on Temptalia for the color Surreal Sun from their new Pure Color Envy Shine Lipstick range and it reminded me of an old MAC lipstick I used to love Stop-N-Glo. So I decided to grab it.

I thought this formula would be a glossy semi-sheer lipstick, but surprisingly it has quite a bit of pigment. It’s creamy, moisturizing, high shine, pigmented and the color is even when applied. It lasts maybe 3-4 hours. Surreal Sun is a creamy bright, close to neon, coral pink shade. This isn’t neon in the way neon is done now, but it has a more florescent quality than a regular bright lipstick. Inside it looks a bit more pink, outside in sunlight the red coral comes out more. The case is slim which is nice. The retail is $30 for a 0.1 oz tube. This can apply semi-sheer if you do one coat, or it can go opaque. It’s a great summer shade. It has no discernible scent or taste. If you like glossy, creamy, pigmented lipsticks this might be for you, if you’re looking for sheer and glossy this range is probably not for you.
