Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

I had heard so much about the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser I finally went and grabbed it. I have been using this on and off for over six months now. Long over due review. Details per Glossier:

This is the ultimate daily face wash: use on dry skin to dissolve away makeup and grime, or on wet skin as you start your day. The pH-balanced, creamy gel formula is made with a blend of five skin conditioners so your face is left feeling healthy and soft, never tight. Its cleansing power comes from the same gentle cleaning agents found in contact lens solution, so it’s tough on impurities and still safe to use on your eyes. You’ll see.

Directions

To start your day—massage 1-2 pumps onto wet skin (keep it in the shower!) and rinse.

To remove makeup*—on dry skin, gently and thoroughly massage 2-3 pumps directly onto eye area to melt away mascara; add water, massage over the rest of your face, and rinse.

*unless it’s waterproof, in which case you should use a cleansing oil, and follow with Milky Jelly for complete clean.

Key Benefits

  • Poloxamer A strong yet mild cleansing agent used in contact lens solution.
  • Rosewater We replaced 1/4 of the H2O content with soothing rosewater (bonus: smells great!).
  • Comfrey Root Extract Contains allantoin, which heals dry, stressed skin.
  • Aquaxyl Refills skin’s water reserves and improves its barrier to prevent dehydration.
  • Pro-Vitamin B5 Powerful, natural moisturizer found in mushrooms and cheese.

The Milky Jelly Cleanser is described as a conditioning facial cleanser. That’s fairly accurate. It’s a thick jelly cleanser with a hint of that creamy or milky cleanser feel. I actually have never come across a cleanser with the same texture. It’s unique. I am absolutely in love with the texture. And the price it’s only $18 for a 6 oz bottle. The bottle is a plastic pump which I love as well. So far it’s perfect. This hydrating jelly will not strip your skin nor leave it feeling dehydrated and tight after cleansing. I prefer to use this as a morning cleanse or as part of a double cleanse routine after a cleansing oil. I don’t trust this to remove all my makeup and SPF. It’s too light hearted for that, I need oils as a night first cleanse.

I completely adore this cleanser. It never strips my skin and I’m fascinated by it’s thick jelly milky texture. It’s affordable. The only downside to this product is the scent. It smells like plasticky (is that even a word?) fake roses. They use rose flower water and I don’t see any added fragrance in the ingredient list so I’m not sure where this plastic rose smell comes from. If they would change that scent this would be among my hero products. I find myself never reaching for this anymore because even though I adore the cleanser and the texture, I can’t stand the scent. I’ll probably use it up and not repurchase. I hope for a reformulation one day as I know many others feel the same way about this product as well.
