Let Me Introduce You to OSEA Malibu Skincare

OSEA Malibu is a small, family run natural skincare line based on sea ingredients, it’s also vegan. They have body and face products. I first came across them on Birchbox then ventured to their main website. I liked what I saw, and have been testing multiple products.

In the back left in the Ocean Cleanser. This is for all skin types and is a light creamy lotion style cleanser. A 6 oz glass bottle retails for $44, it has a pump top. This is a hydrating cleanser, it’s good for that, it’s gentle, but not for hard core makeup removal. The main ingredients are: algae extract, vegetable foaming agent, oat amino acids, olive oil derivative, sesame seed oil, jojoba seed oil, natural clay, vitamin E, essential oils(lime, orange, juniper, cypress and jasmine), lactic acid and chlorophyll extract. This has a slight blue tint and a light fragrance from the essential oils. I might repurchase this, I haven’t decided yet, but it’s such a large bottle I don’t see myself going through it that quickly.

The red and green bottles in the back towards the left are the Sea Minerals and Sea Vitamin Boost Mists. I have already reviewed these here.

In the back to the right of the mists is the Ocean Lotion. This is technically a body lotion, however the ingredients are so good I could see using this as a light face lotion as well if you wanted to. A 6 oz glass bottle retails for $32 and it’s a pump. It’s for all skin types and fragrance free. It’s lightweight yet quite moisturizing. The main ingredients are: algae extract, sunflower seed oil, olive oil derivative, macadamia seed oil, jojoba seed oil, avocado oil, kukui seed oil, shea butter, copper/manganese/zinc ferment, rosehip seed oil and vitamin E. It’s slightly tinted blue. I would repurchase this again.

Second from the right in the back is the Atmosphere Protection Cream. This is a light moisturizer for all skin types. It retails for $44 for a 2 oz glass bottle, this has a pump as well. This is light, but it does moisturize well for being so light. It’s heavier than the Ocean Lotion and it has a light citrus scent. The main ingredients are: algae extract, vegetable glycerides, macadamia seed oil, olive oil derivative, shea butter, jojoba oil, avocado oil, vitamin E, calendula extract, plant amino acids, ginko biloba leaf extract, chamomile flower extract, lavender extract, natural clay and grapefruit peel oil. I was on the fence with this product for a while based on the lavender oil, I try to stay away from it as it has some potential cytotoxic effects, I prefer lavender flower water over the oil. But I really wanted to try it. It’s nice, I’m not sure I would repurchase it for that reason, but I would love to see them take the lavender out or replace it with lavender flower water.

In the back on the right is the Eyes & Lips Care. A few months ago my eye area was drying out a lot and I was searching for a new eye cream. I decided to try this as it had nice moisturizing ingredients. It is for eyes and lips, I have only used it for eyes. This has become my winter eye cream savior. It is the most hydrating of all I own. It’s also absorbed in about five minutes and not greasy. I use this at night only due to the high hydration. It retails for $60 for 1 oz. It has a plastic pump bottle which allows no air to reach the ingredients, which I love. The main ingredients are: algae extract, vegetable glycerides, olive squalane, olive oil derivative, Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline(DPHP), macadamia nut oil, avocado oil, copper/manganese/zinc ferment, calendula extract, cucumber extract, vitamin E, grapefruit extract and plant amino acids. The DPHP is a plant amino acid that’s supposed to stimulate collagen and strengthen connective tissue. I would totally repurchase this.

I have tried two small samples of their Advanced Protection Cream, which is the small tube on the bottom right. This is a richer moisturizer so it’s not for oily skin. For combo skin it could just depend on your skin, I could see this being OK for night use and winter use. A full size retails for $98 for 2 oz so this is one of their pricier items. It’s thick and rich, but not greasy. The main ingredients are: algae extract, squalane, aloe juice, macadamia seed oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba seed oil, vitamin E, avocado oil, Irish Moss red algae, calendula extract, chamomille extract, natural vitamin C and lemon peel oil. I was considering buying this, but with my recent move to Houston this week I need to see what my skin does first as this may be too much for me there.

In the front on the left is the Undaria Algae Oil which I have reviewed here.

Next in the front second from the left in the Eye Gel Serum. I use this in the morning under a few other eye creams. I use this first because it’s the lightest with a gel texture. It retails for $60 for a 0.6 oz glass bottle. It’s supposed to firm, soothe, and reduce fine lines puffiness and dark circles. The main ingredients are: sodium hyaluronate, Caproyl Tetrapeptide-3(a collagen inducing peptide), multiple algae extracts, seaweed extract, beta glucan, vegetable protein, aloe leaf extract, kelp extract, wine polyphenols and honeysuckle flower extract. You only need a little bit of this and it lasts forever, you can see how much I’ve used in 3 months of daily morning use. I would repurchase this.

To the right of that is the Brightening Serum. This is a lightweight gel texture brightening serum. It retails for $60 for a 0.6 oz glass bottle. The main ingredients are: uva ursi leaf extract, damiana leaf extract, flowery knotweed root extract, nonapeptide-1, rumex occidentalis extract, red algae extract, giant kelp extract, seaweed extract, ascorbic acid, ferulic acid, mushroom extract, vitamin C derivative, tumeric root, olive leaf extract, sodium hyaluronate, Indian Gooseberry fruit extract, green tea leaf extract, licorice root extract and honeysuckle flower extract. I’ve used almost 60% of this bottle daily every morning. I haven’t really noticed that much of an effect from it, though honestly no brightening serum without hydroquinone does much for me. Vitamin C is really what does the most for me with exfoliation and peels. So I would not repurchase this one. Nonapeptide-1 is interesting, it’s a newer synthetic peptide that inhibits melanin production.

On the far right in the front is the Vitamin Sea Serum. This is a anti-aging serum that retails for $68 for a 0.6oz glass with pump bottle. This also has a lightweight gel texture that absorbs quickly. The main ingredients are: seaweed extract, red algae extract, brown algae extract, giant kelp extract, walnut seed extract, olive leaf extract, sodium hyaluronate, citric acid, vitamin C derivative, Indian Gooseberry fruit extract, tumeric root, ferulic acid, licorice root extract, green tea leaf extract, vitamin E and C, and honeysuckle flower extract. I like the ingredients in this serum and will repurchase.

I like this brand, it’s natural, their ingredients are great and they’re reasonably priced for this type of product. They are well packaged in glass bottle with pumps. I look forward to seeing what else they put out. If you sign up for their newsletter you get a birthday discount which was somewhere around 10-20% I can’t remember exactly. They don’t send out frequent emails either, so no mailbox clutter.

L to R: Ocean Cleanser, Ocean Lotion, Atmosphere Protection Cream, Advanced Protection Cream, Eyes & Lips Care, Eye Gel Serum.
