Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Haul: Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette, Tom Ford Iris Bronze Gift Set & More

I posted my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale recs in a recent post HERE. I thought I would review and talked about all the items I purchased. I’ll start with the Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette. Details per Nordstrom:

A palette featuring everything you need to look instantly healthy, glowing and pretty. This palette features powder, contour, blush and glow for a head-turning complexion.

Palette includes:

  • Airbrush Powder #2 (a warm powder with golden undertones and a soft velvety texture)
  • Blush in Pretty (a youthful rosy flush to illuminate any skin type)
  • Illuminating Glow (top left) (a soft champagne to highlight and illuminate)
  • Bronze and Contour (a neutral cocoa to tone, slim, sculpt and define)
  • Summer Blush (a bright coral with a soft sheen)
  • Highlighting Glow (bottom right) (opalescent with golden/pink undertone to layer and highlight)

The powders in this palette are very finely milled and they have an overall thin texture. They’re not full on powdery, but this palette leans more towards a powdery, drier texture than normal. The Look in a Palettes have softer more hydrating powders than this one. This one is moderately pigmented and blended into the skin for the most part pretty well. The drier texture wasn’t my favorite by Charlotte to date and the colors were kind of light and blah. I do love the Airbrush Powder in #2 & I even had a big one of it. It’s finely milled and a great powder. You can read my really old review HERE. I found it hard to really get a powder brush into that tiny pan without grabbing other colors as well.

The contour shade is a neutral light brown with shimmer. It’s too light to really contour with for me best used as a bronzer. I’m not into bronzer anymore so I barely touch it. The blush shades are both bright pink corals. They are fairly similar on the skin as well. The top one has more shimmer and is softer while the bottom one really packs a brighter punch. Similar tones in blush shades though. I’m not really into corals anymore they’re not my favorite blush shades as I tend to gravitate towards pink and peachy nudes. The two highlighters are the best part of the palette. The top one is a light rose gold and the bottom a more golden champagne. By far the top right highlight shade is my favorite of the entire palette. Overall this palette was a miss for me with too many shades I just don’t use that often and the texture was too dry. I much prefer my Look in a Palettes but if you like warm lighter toned summer shades this is better suited for you.

The Tom Ford Iris Bronze Lip & Eye Set is already sold out (I knew it would go fast). Details per Nordstrom:

An Eye Quad featuring four coordinated eyeshadows in sparkling to matte finish designed to create soft, bold, iconic Tom Ford eyes, presented with two gorgeous Lip Colors.

The centerpiece of the Tom Ford color collection, the Eye Quad is designed with four opulent complementing shades that achieve multiple looks, from a bold, smoky eye to a sexy splash of color and everything in between. Formulated with advanced color processes, the luxurious finishes from sheer to shimmer and matte offer a spectrum of intensity and effects and deliver incredible shade fidelity and outstanding adhesion. The long-wearing Tom Ford Lip Color in two deluxe sample shades represent Tom Ford’s modern ideal of an essential makeup shade. Rare and exotic ingredients including soja seed extract, Brazilian murmuru butter and chamomilla flower oil create an ultra-creamy texture with an incredibly smooth application. Specially treated color pigments are blended to deliver pure color with the perfect balance of luminosity for a polished finish.

Set includes: Eye Quad in Iris Bronze, Deluxe sample Lip Color in Spiced Honey & Casablanca

The eye palette has the standard Tom Ford powder texture. It has a light satin pink nude, shimmering neutral gold, warm shimmering bronze & a almost matte plum brown with a hint of shimmer. The light nude shade reminds me of the newer private eyeshadow in Hush. Similar texture and hue. It’s a good satin formula. The golden shade is the most metallic of the palette, very pigmented and intense. The warm bronze is a satin finish to more shimmery. It’s moderately pigmented. It’s similar also to the private eyeshadow in Iris Bronze. The plum brown shade is almost matte and a little streaky. It’s also dry like most mattes. It was my least favorite of the quad. Overall the quad has a very warm coppery plum bronze feel to it.

The lipstick minis are very cute ways to try the creamy Tom Ford formula. Casablanca I have already tried. It’s a rich neutral nude plum. Spiced Honey is a new shade to me. It’s a creamy light peach pink nude. The Tom Ford cream lipstick formula is one of the creamiest, lush lipsticks there is. They have the best cushy texture.

In comparison to the private singles (Top to Bottom)-Hush single, Iris Bronze Quad Top L, Iris Bronze Quad Bottom L, Iris Bronze single:

I already own the Hush and Iris Bronze singles and as you can see they are very similar in tone and depth. I didn’t like the plum shade and I’m not a gold fan so this quad was a total miss for me. I included the Nordstrom catalog ad below to show you why this quad was such a disappointment for me. They pictured it in the catalog as the newer powder textured quads like Honeymoon & Nude Dip. So I was excited thinking I was getting the new formula. What I got was the original powder style quad. While it’s a good powder formula it was extremely misleading and was very disappointing. The quad also looked much more neutral in tone in the catalog versus the warm coppery plum quad it truly is. It’s a shame as I really was looking forward to what was in the catalog versus what they released.

I did indulge and grab the Diptyque Mini Candle Set. I’ve been wanting to try their scents and this mini set was the best way to play with a little bit of everything. Sadly it’s already sold out. I’m super excited to get to play with them all. So far Feu de Bois is so far my favorite as I love a smoky home scent over florals. Details per Nordstrom:

An assortment of five timeless scented candles in miniature sizes. Baies, or Berries, brings to mind a bouquet of roses and blackcurrant leaves. Figuier, or Fig Tree, captures the freshness of the leaves amid the milky sap of the fruit. Feu de Bois, or Wood Fire, captures a crackling fire in the hearth. Roses illuminates the many facets of the floral kingdom’s Highness. Tubereuse, or Tuberose, illuminates the sensual allure of a narcotic flower.

On a whim I threw in Herbivore Botanicals Rosewater + Gemstone Trio. This has also sadly sold out. Details per Nordstrom:

A three-piece skin care set featuring products that provide deep hydrating and cellular regeneration to skin.

Trio includes:

  • Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Crème (1.7 oz.): a lightweight moisturizer that hydrates, plumps and smoothes skin, leaving it with a glowing and slightly dewy finish
  • Brighten Pineapple + Gemstone Glow Mask (0.5 oz.): a mask that combines gentle fruit enzymes with micronized tourmaline gemstone and rice powder.
  • Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist (2 oz.): a hydrating face mist is created with pure plant actives and features a base of coconut water which is infused with youth-boosting hibiscus flower petals and moisture-enhancing rose to tone, hydrate and soften skin.

This set includes a full size Pink Cloud Creme & ended up being such a good deal as it was only a few dollars extra to get the mist and mask. I’ve been wanting to grab a full size Pink Cloud Creme for a while as I love the light dreamy coconut rose scent. Very natural and light. No fake rose or too sweet coconut here. The texture is a lush light cream that isn’t heavy. It hydrates well. I’ve already reviewed the Face Mist HERE. The Gemstone mask has been on my list to try, I haven’t gotten to test it out yet though.

I also grabbed a Himalayan Trading Post Tumbler Candle in Tobacco Bark. This candle comes in a really nice dark glass vessel, it’s located top left in the photo. I love the deep smoky and sweet scent. Very much how I love my home candles to be. Notes are: dark rum, incense, sweet woody tobacco, citrus, clove and vanilla.

Winky Lux is a brand I’ve been wanting to try. I died when I saw this Matcha Balm and added it to my cart while shopping the Anniversary Sale. Though it’s not part of the Anniversary Sale I wanted to feature it somewhere. This smells and tastes a bit sweet like vanilla. I love the green pistachio color. It’s also really moisturizing so it’s a well done lip balm. Plus the little tube is just so damn cute. Run out and grab it. Details per Nordstrom:

A nourishing balm made with real green tea powder and food-grade vanilla. It softens, repairs and protects your lips, featuring coconut and avocado oils for ultimate hydration and vitamin C and caffeine for a healthy treat.
