Ormonde Jayne White Gold: Review

I happened to be scrolling across new arrivals on Selfrdiges one day and saw this new Ormonde Jayne White Gold fragrance. I love Ormonde Jayne. A UK niche fragrance brand that uses unique combinations for spellbinding scents. Once you try them you’ll have a hard time going back to traditionally available commercial scents. There’s just something magical about a well put together niche fragrance. Details per Selfridges:

The completion of the Gold Trilogy, Ormonde Jayne’s White Gold captures the beauty of white, jasmine absolute, white musk, orchids. Enter the assertiveness of grasse jasmin absolute purring alongside white musk, simply out perfuming any other alliance. You will have little problem making it centre stage with this perfume. Wear it as your second skin, day and night, any season and any occasion.

Ormonde Jayne White Gold comes housed in a white glass bottle. It’s very minimalistic. Ormonde Jayne’s typical fragrances are in the same shape but with clear glass and lettering. Their special scents are done with some kind of solid color bottle. I’ve been using Black Gold and Rose Gold for a while. While both are lovely scents I think I actually like this new White Gold the best.

  • Top notes:  Leaf green molecule, pink pepper, mandarin, bergamot and clary sage
  • Heart notes: Jasmin absolute, carnation absolute, orris butter, orchids and freesia
  • Base notes:  Madagascan vanilla, ambrette absolute cashmeran, white musk, amber, moss, tonka, labdanum, opoponax, vetiver, cedar wood

White Gold is like the day version of the family. Black Gold is heavy and deep. Rose Gold is warm and inviting. White Gold is a complex oriental floral. While it’s lighter than the other two scents this is no wallflower. This is a Fall fragrance is you like grouping your scents into categories. Not as deep as Winter scents, not as light and airy as Spring. As with all Ormonde Jayne scents the quality, longevity and silage are excellent.

This isn’t a spicy oriental, more of a complex oriental. There are many facets to this scent. It has citrus, floral and green notes. This also has a well rounded warmth and depth. It has hints of woods, musk, spice and lots of warmth without being a sweet or powdery floral. This has so many aspects to it–which is makes it just plain good. I love the unique combination of not always common ingredients, as usual for Ormonde Jayne.
