OUMERE Serum Bioluminelle

OUMERE is a random brand I came across on Instagram. The creator of OUMERE is Wendy Ouriel who has a Master of Science in Biology. She created OUMERE after intense research to solve her own skincare issues. There’s a big emphasis on proper formulation plus avoiding essential oils, fragrance, drying alcohols, and inflammatory oils. Her research included education in extracellular matrix biology & biological ways in which collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid can be up-regulated, or degraded naturally. It’s a very pricey line, but the ingredients are outstanding. The packaging is also very, very cool. They are lab inspired glass beakers and flasks.

Serum Bioluminelle is a light serum meets facial oil. Details per OUMERE:

Serum Bioluminelle™ is a natural plant-based treatment scientifically formulated to activate your skin’s biology, made with deeply penetrating super antioxidants, youth-regenerating proteins, and potent plant extracts to make your skin look and feel its youngest and brightest.

Directions Apply Serum Bioluminelle after the cleansing and exfoliating steps in your skin care regimen. Shake container well to thoroughly mix the water and oil phase layers. Dispense a pea-sized amount onto fingertips and gently massage onto your face, neck, and décolleté. Allow product to seep into skin for at least one minute before applying additional products. Serum Bioluminelle can be applied up to two times per day for maximum results and benefits.

The texture is super light. Serum Bioluminelle functions as a facial oil, but it’s really a treatment serum meets facial oil. You can use this as a step saver if you wish or just use as a lighter oil. This has the most divine texture that just sinks into the skin with ease. It leaves behind the perfect amount of oil and makes my skin amazingly soft. You have to shake it before application to mix the two layers. Texture wise it’s perfect. This has a beaker glass bottle with a flask style stopper. It’s cool and a great vanity piece. Be very careful though when you open and pour as you can easily pour too much out because the product is so fluid and light.

This comes in a 50 ml bottle but you also get a 5 ml travel size included in the box. The travel size comes with the pointy rubber style skinny top that allows you to squeeze just a tiny bit out at a time. I placed this on top of my bottle and got rid of the stopper. It makes dispensing so much better. Look at the last picture below to see the tops on the travel sizes and you’ll know what type of top I’m talking about. That does take away from the nice visual of the cool beaker/stopper bottle but it makes it highly functional. I’m super clumsy and easily spill liquid skincare items so I need ways to protect my products from me.

This has a stellar inci list. I copied from the site their reasons they picked the ingredients they did. It’s got quite a bit of my favorite ingredients like aloe, turmeric, broccoli extract, ginseng, beta glucan, horse chestnut, ursolic acid, reishi & shiitake extracts plus carrot, watermelon, prickly pear, black seed and green coffee oils. Aloe, beta glucan, horse chestnut and turnmeric are powerful soothing and anti-inflammatory ingredients. Ginseng is a powerful antioxidant. Reishi mushrooms are powerful as they’re adaptogenic (helping your body cope with stress), contain natural beta glucan, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant plus it has high levels of polysaccharides which help the body with its natural ability to retain water and promotes cell regeneration. Shiitake mushrooms are rich in kojic acid which is brightening, it’s an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory plus it’s also high in polysaccharides like reishi mushrooms.

Broccoli sprout extract is interesting. It’s been shown to help skin fight UV damage. Broccoli seed oil is actually considered the natural silicone as it has a texture that’s similar but not as smothering. I’s not the oil in this product but it’s interesting to note. A few of my favorite oils are in this-black seed (great for decongesting skin), carrot (rich in beta carotine, vitamins A & E), watermelon (antioxidant with high levels of lycopene one of my favorites), prickly pear (high in vitamin E and antioxidants) and green coffee (antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, increase firmness and helps build collagen and elastin). Ursolic acid is an interesting ingredient not seen a whole lot. It’s anti-aging, anti-inflammatory & found naturally in a variety of fruit and plants. Ursolic acid has been shown to prevent the development of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, inflammatory enzymes that aggravate the skin. Ursolic acid has been thought to form a barrier on the skin much like a waxy coating on a piece of fruit. Ursolic acid has been used to treat photoaged skin, because it inhibits the appearance of wrinkles and age spots by restoring the skins collagen bundle structures and elasticity. Ursolic acid inhibits the action of elastase enzyme in the skin, thereby preventing the enzyme from attacking structural proteins per naringen.net. It’s even been shown to have some inhibition effects on tumor production in the skin. I adore every product that’s it’s ever been in. This is becoming a favorite ingredient of mine.

I got a few free minis with this purchase and I really liked all of them. The acid toner is potent stuff, rivals Biologique Recherche P50. I’ll be grabbing it one day. The oil cleanser is nice but it’s not something I’m looking for right now. They have a new eye serum and UV-R serum that are calling my name. Overall I really like the line, it’s well done with quality ingredients and none of the fillers or unnecessary stuff. Serum Bioluminelle makes my skin so hydrated, smooth and firm. It’s a stellar truly product. A hero product. I’ve been thinking about it and honestly if I had to pick only two oils for the rest of my life this would be one. Votary Super Seed Facial Oil is the other. That’s a really hard decision to make but it’s really that good. I look forward to trying a few other things from the line.

  1. Hi,
Thank you for your blog! I am looking to start a new skincare regimen, what Oumere products do you recommend starting with for an am and pm regimen?

    1. They honestly don’t have that many products so it shouldn’t be hard to pick, they have listed on their site how they think you should layer their products 🙂

  2. Hello! Did you ever try any of the other products? I have just bought Caroline Hirrons SkinCare book and a lot of her and Wendy’s views on skincare clash (esp on Vitamin C!) I’m wondering whether the Oumere range was worth it, as I prefer to use less products, or if I should indeed ramp up my current routine to a dozen products. I’m finding it difficult to find reviews for Oumere.

    Thank you 🙂

    1. Hi, so I am currently using the eye serum and I love it, I haven’t reviewed it yet. I have tried the cleansing oil, it’s OK. The exfoliant is pretty nice, it’s powerful. I have the serum UVR but I haven’t tried it yet.

  3. Hi I’m looking forward to your Eye Serum Review. What do you notice most so far? The de-puffing effect or softening of lines? I’m thinking of purchasing but I wish it was in the travel set! Thanks

    1. Firmness and smoothing of lines. It has some things to depuff but it’s temporary and not major. A light layer of hydration as well.

    1. Honestly it’s in the same photo set as UV-R which I need to start using soon so it’ll be a while. I’m only halfway through the bottle of the eye serum at this point. If you need a quicker answer best to send me an email comment in the contact me box or DM me on Instagram, I’ll see it quicker than coming into comments on here (one of my last places to look sometimes)
