Micellar waters are all the rage right now. They have microscopic oil particles that remove makeup without the need to rinse. It’s like a all-in-one cleanser that feels like a toner.
Perricone MD was one of my first high end skincare brands. I used them after La Mer. I loved most of his products, I just wanted to branch out and try other brands. I still like to try Perricone’s new stuff. I loved the original serum Perricone MD Blue Plasma Treatment.
Per Perricone MD: “Blue Plasma Cleansing Treatment is a no-rinse formula that deeply cleanses makeup and skin-aging debris as it gently exfoliates and conditions, leaving an instantly smooth and radiant appearance. Paired with Micellar molecules, this gentle cleanser works to trap skin pollutants, unclog impurities from deep within pores and allows for optimal delivery of Dr. Perricone’s anti-aging ingredients.” The retail is $45 for 4 fl oz and comes in a frosted glass bottle.
I wanted to try this for an odd reason. I had post partum hair line loss and Restorsea Revitalizing Scalp Treatment had worked for me previously. It’s too expensive for me so I was thinking maybe the salmon roe ingredient was the key from Restorsea and this Perricone MD also has salmon roe for a fraction of the cost. I thought it could replace that Restorsea spray. It didn’t work at all for that reason. So that was a bust. Then I used it as it was intended.
The liquid is a clear blue, thicker liquid. It’s moisturizing and takes a while to sink in. It has no real scent I noticed, nothing worth noting. Not like the serum which had a touch of a fishy smell. I wish this came with a pump instead of being an open neck bottle.
Perricone MD Blue Plasma Cleansing Treatment is very gentle for a cleanser, it removes some makeup but not all traces. I find this to be the same for all micellar waters. They’re good for a quick rinse but I prefer a regular cleanse. I do like micellar waters such as Simple or Bioderma for eye makeup removal. I did not try this one for that purpose because of it’s exfoliating properties. This Perricone one was not as good at makeup removal as Simple or Bioderma. I think it was just too thick and moisturizing. It felt more like a thick toner or essence.
Overall, this was moisturizing, very gentle. It might have has slight exfoliating effects, but it wasn’t all that noticeable, not like the serum which was more noticeable. I wouldn’t buy it again and prefer Simple or Bioderma when I want a micellar water for a quick cleanse. I prefer a usual cleansing method to remove makeup compared to micellar waters. Micellar waters leave makeup behind and it’s not all that much better than a makeup remover wipe. I can’t recommend anyone use this as the only way to remove their makeup at night.
