RMS Beauty Living Luminizer: Review & Swatches

I had seen RMS Living Luminizer pop up again and again in magazines. It seemed like a cult favorite yet I never grabbed it. I’ve been on a highlighter kick since last fall(who hasn’t been but usually I’m not that into them) and decided to grab it. It’s known for being Natural and Organic as well as giving a sheer luminous glow without all the shimmer and glitter. Best of all it’s now carried on Sephora, I got mine on Beautyhabit.

Per RMS’s website: “Nothing compares in magically highlighting the skin. This formula is the ultimate illuminator for creating a sensuous, sheer, luminous glow. A must have beauty product and our biggest seller. Best of all, the living luminizer enhances the skin’s natural youthfulness without being sticky, greasy or glittery. An ultra sheer, glowing, luminizer with a translucent, satin-pearl finish. This highlighter works great on all skin tones, making this a must have beauty product.” It retails for $38 and comes in a small frosted glass jar. It is a smaller size at 0.17 oz.

Suggested usage: “Apply sparingly with fingers over the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, along the inner corners of eyes, and on the cupid’s bow above lips for a natural glow. Add life to eyes by subtly applying onto the center of eyelids, just above the lashes.

For a more precise application to those sensual places on the face, apply the living luminizer with the rms beauty brightening brush. The small tapered brush is perfect for highlighting the inner eye corners (near the tear duct), down the bridge of the nose and bow of the lips. A hint of the luminizer can be added along shoulders, shoulder blades and collar bones for a sexy evening look. Combine with the lip2cheek for a more sensual, shimmery mouth. or mix sparingly with ‘un’cover-up for a radiant sheen.”

The color is a sheer white shimmer. It feels like a pretty neutral white. Not too cool nor warm. The shimmer is very fine, not glittery at all. It’s a sheer product, I had to really layer it on to get the heavy swatch. It adds a barely there shimmer. Texture wise it’s a thin glossy balm. It’s not creamy, it’s glossy and balm like. It’s not super glossy but it adds a glossy sheen. It’s thin and not thick and sticky feeling, more dewy. You can layer it to build up to your needs.

Overall, it adds a slightly glossy sheen with a hint of shimmer. It does look very natural, dewy and adds a youthful feel. Whether or not this is for you depends on what you want out of a highlighter. I would have loved this 5-10 years ago. I’m not as into the dewy, glossy highlight anymore. Plus, I live in Texas where it’s as humid as can be and this just melts right off me. I like a cream highlight that isn’t too slippery. I can see why many love it. Next up Master Mixer and one day the ‘un’cover-up.
