SUQQU Treatment Primer: Review

I’ve been stalking Selfridges website for the SUQQU Treatment Primer to come back in stock. I finally was successful and snagged it. Details per Selfridges:

Suqqu‘s treatment primer is a must for your beauty bag. The moisturising primer preps skin, creating a perfect canvas for flawless foundation application. Infused with Safflower Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, it helps blur imperfections, resulting in a radiant glow.

The retail for me was $42 for a 1.05 oz tube. The primer is a moisturizing type with a pink lavender tone to brighten and correct tone. It has a faint shimmer for radiance. Overall, the effect is a brightening glow with an SPF of 20 for some basic sun protection. Sadly, once I got the primer I see one of the ingredients is mineral oil. Whyyyyy I whine. Mineral oil tends to clog pores.

This is a really moisturizing brightening primer. It’s not going to mattify or lessen pores, it’s more like skincare-with mineral oil(it’s the third ingredient). Whether or not it will clog your pores will depend on how sensitive you are to mineral oil. That’s pretty much my only complaint about it. It’s not a primer that really adds to the longevity of makeup application. Most moisturizing primers don’t. I find only matte primers add to makeup longevity. The others just add shimmer, tone correcting or a dewy effect. I’m always on the fence with primers and whether or not they’re a necessary part of the makeup routine versus just hype that you need it. Yet I still buy more and continue testing them.
