Tom Ford AW16 Runway Eye Color Duo: Review & Swatches

Tom Ford recently launched it’s AW16 Runway look. It comprised of a Lip Contour Duo and this Eye Colour Duoiconpalette. The eye palette looked like a neutral palette so I grabbed it. It retails for $60 and comes in the standard brown case with velvet pouch.

Per Nordstrom: “Tom Ford captures the essence of the runway with this limited-edition eye color duo. Its unique formula captures pigments and light on the eye and can be worn dry for a sleek metallic look or wet for a more colorful finish. It features one-of-a-kind technology that wraps concentrated pigments for a color-true, highly polished, multidimensional look.”

So, I was thinking it would be a peach and brown palette. Which is close. It’s a pale quite shimmery neutral peachy champagne and a satin neutral to cool deep brown. Overall, it’s very much a light versus dark duo and a neutral to cooler feeling palette. When you mix the shades they become cooler and almost greyer in tone. It felt muddy when I mixed them. I liked it best when the colors were more separated. I think of chiaroscuro when I see this duo. If you ever did art or photography you’ll know what I mean. Chiaroscuro is a play on dark and light. It just popped in my head when I saw this duo.

The texture is thin, like the newer Tom Ford quads like Nude Dip. It’s a wet and dry formula. I found the light shade was the best. It applied smooth and was well pigmented and easily bendable. The dark brown was not as good. It wasn’t as smooth in application. It was patchier and not as easy to blend. It only blended well applied over the light shade. I have to say I prefer Nude Dip over this, it’s more versatile.

  1. Thanks for your review. I use both shades, blended together, on my lid and in my crease. I agree that the combination looks more grey than brown, but on my eyes it's more of a warm grey. I pair it with the Tom Ford Slate Eye Pencil, which is the perfect color for this duo.
