I grabbed a few of Urban Decay’s new lipsticks with the Gwen Stefani launch. I have been bad and not put up that post yet. At the time I thought they were a new limited edition style of lipstick, but now it seems they are what will be the new Vice Lipsticks coming out soon.
Per Urban Decay: “Inspired by the new fantasy-adventure film release of Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, these five limited-edition shades of Lipstick pay tribute to our favorite characters: Alice, Mad Hatter, Mirana (the White Queen), Iracebeth (the Red Queen) and Time, a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock. Each Lipstick case features a colorful, kaleidoscopic pattern inspired by the film. We debossed the top of the cap and the Lipstick with the UD icon and screened “Urban Decay” on the inside of the case.” These are $18 and limited edition. I grabbed Alice described as a sheer nude with pink shift. The label has it described as a Sheer Shimmer.
The formula is nice-creamy and moisturizing. It is sheer color but not too sheer. Some sheers can be almost clear, this one adds color but works letting your natural lip color peek out. It’s has a medium glossy sheen, enough slip yet is thick enough so it stays on for about 2 hours if you’re not eating or drinking. That’s pretty average for a lipstick of this nature. It’s really comfortable to wear and is not drying like MAC’s Lustre lipsticks. It’s a good sheer style lipstick. I’m not a fan of the new plastic case compared to the Revolution Lipsticks. It feels like a lighter weight cheaper plastic. It is cheaper at $18 versus $22 for the Revolution Lipsticks. I would pay the extra $4 for the better package. I’m sure most will be happier with the cheaper tube.
The nude base is a yellow based nude. More towards a yellow peachy nude. It’s sheer, does lighten my lips without making me look dead. The shimmery pink shift is the most interesting part to it. Without this pink shimmer I wouldn’t wear this type of nude. It changes color some depending on the light. Slightly cooler or neutral in the shade or indoor light, warmer in the sunlight. I love the shade, sadly it’s limited edition. It’s unique in the vast sea or typical nudes.
