Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer: Medium Neutral: Review & Swatches

I had heard so much about Urban Decay’s Naked Skin concealer being great, so I had to try it. I haven’t used a non-stick style concealer in some time. I usually use Cle de Peau’s concealer. I thought something thinner, lighter and more moisturizing would be nice to try.

Per Urban Decay’s website: “Hide even your most scandalous flaws. Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer gives you buildable, even coverage with a luminous, demi-matte finish. Ultra lightweight, this high-tech formula melds like a second skin to give you full coverage in an instant. For complete coverage, just keep building; no matter how much you apply, Naked Skin Concealer always blends beautifully and NEVER settles into fine lines. We loaded Naked Skin Concealer with lots of ingredients that are good for your skin. Matrixyl 3000 contains anti-wrinkle peptides to improve skin’s youthful appearance and elasticity. Japanese green tea revitalizes and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines. Litchiderm (derived from the lychee fruit) protects against dehydration, resulting in a brighter, more radiant complexion. And sodium hyaluronate helps skin attract and retain moisture.” The retail is $28 for a 0.16 oz tube. This has a sponge tip applicator. I do it on then use the Sephora x Hakuhodo concealer brush to blend it in for a natural finish.

I was really torn between two shades: Medium Light Neutral and Medium Neutral. Medium Light Neutral was the right shade for my skin tone, but it was too beige and didn’t have enough warmth or yellow for my undertones. It worked but was a bit off. Medium Neutral is a bit too dark but it has the right warmth it’s more yellow or warm. Overall, that was the best fit for me, the warmth was what I needed. A Medium Light Warm would have been a perfect match if they made it. For reference I’m a NC 25, or check out the foundations that work for me here.

The coverage is light to medium and buildable. The formula is quite nice, it glides on easy, has a nice easy to work with texture. It doesn’t crease on me or feel greasy. It does really feel naked on, it’s light and has a semi matte finish. The only thing I don’t like about this formula is it’s too drying on me. I have a bit drier eye area and it can get a bit uncomfortable when I wear this concealer, even over a heavier eye cream first. The dryness comes a few hours into wear. I checked there’s no alcohol in it, so not sure where the dryness comes from. Otherwise, it’s a great product for natural coverage that still actually covers something. Some of those natural concealers are too light in coverage and don’t cover good enough. This one covers my dark circles but manages to look natural. It’s too bad about the dryness otherwise it’s great.
