August Boxwalla x Lovinah & VOTARY and Special Edition x Lovinah

I love this months Boxwalla subscription box. The theme is ‘The Curious Comfort of Skin-care like things’ featuring Lovinah & VOTARY which are two of my favorite brands. This box has products I have been using and loving for some time. I love that Boxwalla does bi-monthly boxes so I don’t get overloaded with products. The Lovinah Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Oil has the most joyful uplifting scent from the fruit oils. This cleansing oil has encapsulated salicylic acid to help clear out your pores. It also has vitamin C and antioxidant rich tomato seed oil & lycopene extract. I tested the first version and I’m so glad this version now comes with a pump dispenser. I was terrible at knocking the original dropper dispenser over. I love the combination of brightening vitamin C, fruit oils with healing and purifying Dragon’s Blood and pore unclogging salicylic acid. This oil based cleanser emulsifies and rinses clean. Definitely a cleansing oil to check out this year. It’s very unique. Nothing better than a rinsable cleansing oil that not only smells divine but has antioxidants, brighteners and pore clearing ingredients.

VOTARY Super Seed Serum is a product I have already used for some time. This has a gel cream serum texture and the Super Seed line is great for sensitive skin as well as anyone else. The Super Seed line is fragrance free. This serum has hyaluronic acid, antioxidant rich seed oils & peptides. It soothing from the colloidal oatmeal plus it has broccoli seed, chia, cloudberry & pomegranate oils. It’s also got green tea extract, sacha inchi & carnosine (bio-engineered peptide). This serum is hydrating, plumping and soothing. I really love this one in the winter. VOTARY Intense Night Oil is one of my top favorite night oils with retinoids. It has HPR (hydroxypinacolone retinoate) which I love for it’s less irritating nature. The oil has a medium weight texture plus it also has lycopene rich tomato oil. This also has line reducing paracress extract and a rose scent from rose flower oil. I love that Boxwalla picked a small size for this oil. I think that’s the perfect introductory way to see how beautiful it is. Review HERE.

I always love the Boxwalla card inserts. This box has a value of $240 for $49.95 when you subscribe HERE.

This year Bowalla also brings you a limited edition extra box with makeup and skincare featuring Lovinah. I’ve come to know Joy the founder over the years, we even live in the same metro area. She is creative and has amazing skincare formulations. Her ingenuity never ceases to amaze me. This limited edition box has the new Copper Peptide + EGF Ampoule launch and the Eye Magic Eyeshadow Palette.

Eye Magic Eyeshadow Palette has a variety of highly pigmented, smooth eyeshadows. The palette has matte, sparkling and shimmering shades. These shadows blend easily and have African shea nilotica butter plus crushed gemstones. I think they’re long lasting and a really good formula. I made a post about these on Instagram in June if you’re interested to look back.

Swatches below:

I have been eagerly waiting for the launch of the Copper Peptide + EGF Ampoules for months (Joy teases me online). This is a month long regimen with one week vials, each sealed for freshness. This serum has 1% copper tri-peptide plus EGF (epidermal growth factors) and sea kelp bioferment for a powerful serum. The base is a isotonic seawater with fermented sea kelp that is nutrient rich. The fermentation process increases the antioxidants and bioavailability of the nutrients to the skin. Copper tri-peptide is a favorite of mine. It’s copper with three amino acids, found naturally in the skin and it has skincare benefits such as stimulates wound healing, improves firmness, elasticity and clarity, smoothes fine lines & wrinkles plus helps with reversing age induced thinning of the skin.

Details per Lovinah on copper tri-peptide:

Beautify your skin with Copper Tripeptide GHK-Cu, which is a combination of copper and proteins and is considered a very effective ingredient for skin regeneration.  Copper Peptide GHK-Cu helps firm, smoothen, tighten and soften the skin. It is made up of three essential amino acids (glycyl-histidyl-lysine) and Dr. Loren Pickart discovered Copper Peptide’s significant regenerating benefits in the 1970s. Pickart noted in his scientific studies that GHK-Cu addressed the sign of aging that begin to occur in our 20’s.

Copper GHK-Cu is a copper-binding peptide that occurs naturally in the human body. It’s known to help rebuild the layers of the dermis by increasing the skin’s thickness. Copper GHK-Cu tripeptide-1 supports the functioning of healthy skin cells by adding beneficial water-holding/binding glycosaminoglycans (GAGS) and glycans to help nourish and hydrate the skin, keeping it plump and nourished for longer periods.

Copper GHK-Cu  is a potent blue colored ingredient and a miracle working for glowy, dewy skin and can help repair scar tissues by ramping up the skin’s natural tissue-building capability, stimulate the production of collagen, and help with scarring. Copper GHK-Cu is gentle to the skin compared to other anti-aging ingredients and its anti-inflammatory effects wil help prevent skin irritation. The ampoule is also helpful for people who have undergone laser treatments, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion treatments.

EGF or epidermal growth factor also naturally occurs in cells and focuses on healing the skin by promoting DNA synthesis and cellular proliferation. It helps speed up wound recovery, boosts hydration, reduces the appearance of fines lines & wrinkles plus it can help prevent scarring. Details per Lovinah:

EGF stands for epidermal growth factor, which is a single-chain, non-glycosylated protein that naturally occurs in our skin cells. Its main purpose is to heal the skin by promoting DNA synthesis and cell proliferation. EGF is used in medicine to help speed up wound recovery and to provide other skin benefits usch as helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines, boost hydration, soothe the skin and prevent scarring

Once it binds to EGFR, which is its receptor, on the surface of the cell, the combination of the two kickstarts several signaling pathways that ultimately lead to results such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. As the healing factor for the body, EGF helps repair skin. The discovery of EGF won biologist Rita Levi-Montalcini and biochemist Stanley Cohen the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1986.

I have not yet actually gotten to try this serum. I was in the middle of using an EGF serum when I recieved it. The retail for the ampoule set is $125 and the eye palette $45 and this box is only $69 in the limited edition set. I didn’t want you to miss out on it waiting for me to post about it after I test it. I’m already a big fan of EGF, copper tri-peptide and Lovinah so I have no doubt it will be spectacular. You can grab it HERE.

*Boxes were gifted but all thoughts are my own. I purchased many Lovinah & VOTARY products including some of the ones pictured on my own prior.
