Becca Lush Lip Colour Balm Cafe Au Lait & Ginger Vanille: Review & Swatches

I was very intrigued by Becca’s new Lush Lip Colour Balm. I was into Becca when it first launched what feels like ages ago. I used to love their original lip glosses. Then they kind of did away with their lip products and revamped their whole line into what it is today. I still miss my pressed Mermaid powder-hint hint Becca. I grabbed shades Cafe Au Lait & Ginger Vanille.

Details per Ulta:

BECCA Lush Lip Colour Balm combines everything you crave about lip balm and everything you love about lipstick to create your perfect, go-to lip look. The ultra-creamy and luxuriously lightweight formula glides smoothly onto lips with a satin soft finish. Buildable colour enhances your lips with customizable coverage – swipe once for a natural flush of colour, build for more intensity. Infused with jojoba oil to keep lips nourished, hydrated, and kissable throughout the day.

This is available only on Ulta and Becca’s site. These come in a crystal clear rectangle package. They are a pigmented cross between a balm and lipstick and have a slight vanilla scent. No discernible taste. The texture is thicker, like a cushy lipstick. It’s not glossy or shiny at all. It has a satin finish actually. It’s hydrating and comfortable to wear. I got about 2-3 hours of wear time before I needed to reapply. I was surprised how pigmented these were for a balm style product.

Cafe Au Lait is described as a peachy beige. It’s a light  peachy pink beige. While the color is light it’s not too light. It doesn’t wash me out. It’s nude but has enough peach and pink to not make my lips look dead. Ginger Vanille is described as a pink coral. It’s a brighter medium neutral peachy pink. I actually thought Ginger Vanille was going to be my favorite, but after wearing for a few weeks Cafe Au Lait is my favorite of the two.

This really feels more like a hydrating lipstick than a balm style product. Most balm lipsticks tend to be buttery, glossy and sheerer. This feels more like a cushy lipstick. I’m sad they didn’t make a true pink nude that’s a bit darker than Cafe Au Lait. I feel like in this type of formula that was a shade that’s missing or lacking from the range. Beyond that the formula is really nice if you like pigmented, hydrating lipsticks with a cushy feel and satin finish.
