Cle de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation O30: Review & Swatches

I've been playing with Cle De Peau Beaute Radiant Fluid Foundation in O30 for a while now. Details per Cle de Peau:

A liquid foundation that gives skin a dewy lustrous finish and creates a glowing veil of beauty. Emits multi-dimensional light from the surface of the complexion to provide an even radiance and a fine texture. Protects skin with broad spectrum SPF 24.

Key Benefits

  • Contains Illuminating Complex, a powerful moisture-stabilizing force that promotes exquisite radiance.
  • Day Matching Powder responds to changes in skin tone throughout the day and maintains a perfect foundation finish.
  • Watery Oil Base provides a uniquely dewy, lustrous finish.
  • Imparts a “glowing veil” to reveal a vibrant luminosity that transcends the natural look of skin.
  • Resists dullness, wear and changes in color throughout the day to retain a beautiful finish for hours.
  • Moisturizes skin and allows you to feel hydrating treatment.
  • Developed with a dewy serum-like texture that glides on as if melting over skin to become one with your complexion and provide a smooth finish.
  • Contains Chestnut Rose Fruit Extract to make skin feel soft providing moisture while preventing skin from looking dull.

The texture is very thin and lightweight. Radiant Fluid Foundation has a very fluid texture with a light floral scent, nothing overpowering. It has light to medium coverage. This starts out as light coverage but it can be built up in certain areas to hit around medium coverage. This will cover some issues like redness, but it won't cover it all. Your skin will show through. That's what makes this foundation look so natural. This is a hydrating foundation. It's never drying in the cheeks.

I tried my fingers, a brush and a sponge to apply this. I found this foundation worked best with a foundation brush. It wasn't as easy to layer and build up with my fingers. A brush really was the best method for applying this foundation. It has a perfect streak free finish when applied with a brush. I found the Beautyblender was overkill. The Beautyblender is more necessary for cream or heavier foundations. I used both the Tom Ford Cream Foundation Brush(a favorite of mine) and tried the new Sephora PRO Mini Flawless Airbrush. The Sephora brush actually works quite well with it.

I tried a sample of shade O20 first. This was too light so I grabbed O30 or Medium Ochre. This one is perfect for me. It's a neutral light medium beige with olive, pink and yellow tones. It's neither too warm, nor cool. Plus it has olive tones. I love this shade, it's the perfect shade in general for my skin tone. It's not a shade I commonly see. I would like to try O40 Ochre as the other Cle de Peau Ochre products are good for me a lot. It's on my list to test next time at the Galleria mall.

The finish is very dewy and radiant. It's luminous. It gives a very healthy and glowy complexion. The longevity is average, 6-8 hours before fading. I do get some oily spots mid to late day in the tzone with it. It's also summer right now, this is a hydrating foundation so it will be better suited to me in the fall through spring months. It is truly a foundation for radiant looking skin.

I will say the pump is a bit of a disappointment. The plastic pump feels a bit cheap. For $125 I expected more. The pump works fine, no issues. It just doesn't feel luxe like Cle de Peau should. I like this foundation. I think it's a fabulous foundation. If you like light to medium coverage, weightless fluid foundations with a radiant dewy hydrating finish, then this one is for you. Oily skin and those who live in a hot humid climate might test it out first as it's a dewy hydrating type. It's pricey so if you can afford it it's worth checking out as the ochre range of shades is a bit unique.
