CurrentBody Skin LED Neck and Dec Perfector

I’ve written about LED light therapy devices before. I’ve been using LED light therapy masks consistently for over two years now. I’ve used the Omnilux and CurrentBody face masks, now I have been trying the CurrentBody LED Neck and Dec Perfector for six months now. What is this device? It’s a flexible silicone skincare device that uses LED light therapy for firming, boosting collagen production and reducing lines/wrinkles in the neck and décolletage area.

Details per the CurrentBody site:

Now you can use medical-grade light energy tech, used by doctors and trusted by NASA to reverse the signs of aging on your neck and décolletage.

Your neck and chest are exposed to the sun and the elements as much as your face, but rarely get as much love. The CURRENTBODY skin LED Neck and Dec Perfector is a soft, silicone light-emitting diode (LED) mask for your chest and neck that uses two forms of light that's proven to fight wrinkles, fine lines and other signs of aging.

Use 3 to 5 times a week for quick, hands-free 10 minute treatments that helped 95% of users have tighter, smoother, firmer and more even skin tone. You'll start to see results in just 4 weeks.

The LED Neck & Dec Perfector harnesses two powerful light therapies to encourage cell renewal for younger-looking skin. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in red and near infra-red work together for a more powerful effect. They increase collagen and other key nutrients which makes the skin bouncier and firmer.

LED Phototherapy is being used for rejuvenation in a variety of skincare treatments both at home and in a professionals office. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has been used for years. It’s known to reduce pain and inflammation. It was put on the radar more by NASA due to its plant growth experiments in which it was found to be promising for wound treatment. It’s used in clinics for rejuvenation and there’s both red and blue light (most used, there is other colors). Red is for anti-aging/inflammation while blue is for acne. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode and it does not use ultraviolet light so it’s safe there. It uses different wavelengths and colors. Different wavelengths enter the skin at different depths. I haven’t tried blue light as I have no need for anti-acne products right now. Red light is about stimulating fibroblasts which help with collagen and skin recovery. Collagen production is important for wound healing. There are studies to show this form of light therapy lowers redness, swelling, bruising and helps speed up the healing process. There are other anti-aging benefits like tightening the skin, reducing wrinkles and fine lines plus making skin smoother and softer. They use light therapy in hair loss as well right now.

Ultimately with LED phototherapy using red/near infrared think photorejuvenation (which is the all things anti-aging part) as well as reduction of inflammation, redness and promotion of wound healing. Inflammation is a key part of aging so it makes sense to use this to reduce inflammation to help as well. There are other benefits to reducing inflammation as well like for those who suffer from medical conditions like rosacea. From my research and best understanding the wavelengths 633nm and 830nm are best for achieving results. It’s not just the wavelengths though, it’s the irradiance and dose. All three have to be right to get the best result. There’s a lot of studies looking into the differences which is exciting. I’m not going to go into the actual scientific mechanism or other details. My friend Vanessa aka Goalstogetglowing has an incredible post on not only this mask, but all the others comparing them with a research dive. I see no point in saying anything extra but please go read her post HERE.

I do however want to talk about my experience with the CurrentBody. I was gifted this one by the brand in January. I love LED therapy and I wanted to be able to compare more masks. Flexible LED treatments are the easiest light therapy product or devices I have ever used. I can put it on, wear it for 10 minutes and be done. I walk around the house doing a number of things while treating my skin. I do laundry, pick up the house, scroll Instagram, get my kid ready for bed. You name it, I’ve done it while masking in this (well minus some things obviously). Does my husband make fun of me every time I wear this? Yes. I’ve been called the Man in the Iron Mask and Iron Man more times than I can count. Don’t care. Though it does take some getting used to running around wearing it. One of the things I hate about any wand style device is being tied to my outlet while treating plus my hand gets tired waving a wand around my face. With this one you literally just strap it on, push a button and go about your business. You could relax if you wanted to but I have no time for that so I really enjoy its ease of use. It’s the only device I have ever committed myself to in my life and actually was able to stick with it. I always start off strong with a new device but quickly grow tired of it because it’s so much effort. Not with these LED devices. It’s so easy.

I get maybe a dozen or so treatments with a full charge. Maybe more, honestly I’ve never counted. I think I charge once a month or so. The portability is fantastic. I strive to use mine 5x a week. If I’m really busy I’ll go with 3x a week. I find myself wanting to use it 5x a week because of the anti-aging benefits. I also use my mask that often because it's such a big help for my skin so I just always use them together. See my reviews of the Omnilux and CurrentBody masks for more details there. I'm a huge huge fan of LED therapy. It's been life changing for me.

On the left is from August 2022, the right is this week. Now of note I did get a new iPhone in between the shots and did a bathroom renovation so the lighting is different. The new iPhone picks up way more details and lines I've noticed. I started using this in January 2023.

Results wise in comparison I wouldn't say it's huge at this point. Though honestly it took 18 months before I really got more noticeable results on my face so I'm not concerned. The bottom wrinkle near my clavicles is less deep in the middle. The lines on the sides seem to be softening a little. The creases between my cleavage seem to be less now, I used to get those deep ones all the time and now that I think of it I haven't seen the deep ones in a while. In person I feel there's more of a difference, even though when I look and try to compare the before and after it seems less visible. I feel my skin is smoother and gets less congested than it used to. I have not been using any special neck creams while using this for the last six months. I normally do, but I wanted to see what it could do with my normal serums. I'll keep going along with this as I do feel it is helping soften the lines. I just have a lot of work to be done as I neglected my neck most my life until my 30s. Maybe I can make a one year update after the New Year.
