At Target this week I came across more Yes to Coconuts stuff. Last time I looked for it they didn't have much out. So far I've only tried the makeup remover wipes which were nice, I still prefer the cucumber version better. I picked up the Body Scrub, Hand Cream and Lip Balm. I love the coconut smell of this line, it's very natural, not overpowering sickeningly sweet like some coconut products.
The Hand Cream retails for $5.99 for a 85ml tube. It's thick and a great day cream. It needs to soak in for a few minutes then it's not greasy, which is why it's great for day. It's moderately moisturizing, it wouldn't be enough for night for me or if I needed a deep moisturizer at the moment.Â
The Body Scrub retails for $7.99 for a 10 oz tub. I was really excited to find this thinking I finally found a cheap coconut sugar body scrub, but this was the most disappointing of the bunch. It has sugar, oils and coconut husk for extra exfoliation, so it seemed great. The texture is a huge disappointment. It feels like a gelatinous mess on, like a thick, slimy jelly that doesn't even exfoliate. The granules must be too small or too few. It felt like it would leave oils behind at least, but it wasn't even that moisturizing after, just a little extra. So huge fail. Smells great and had potential, maybe I can mix some extra sugar in it to at least use the rest of the tub. Now the search for another cheap coconut sugar scrub continues...
The Lip Balm was the best item of the bunch. For $2.99 it was the best cheap lip balm I have ever bought. The scent is great, the nice natural coconut that's not sweet. It has the oval packaging like my Hurraw! lip balms I love which keeps it from rolling off the table. Hurraw! is around $5 and is currently my favorite cheap lip balm. The formulas are a bit different, bot both are great alternatives to Chapstick which is too waxy for me.
Hurraw! has: sweet almond oil, candelila wax, coconut oil, jojoba seed oil, cocoa butter, castor seed oil, olive oil, flavor and vitamin E. Yes to Coconuts has: coconut oil, olive fruit oil, beeswax, jojoba seed oil, flavor, shea butter, cocoa butter, aloe extract, soybean oil, mixed vitamin E products and some preservatives. Hurraw! is certified organic and has no preservatives listed, Yes to Coconuts is not organic except for the jojoba oil and aloe, and has preservatives. So depends what you like better. Both are very similar, Hurraw! feels a touch thinner and more oily in texture, Yes to Coconuts is a touch thicker as it has an extra butter beyond the Hurraw!. They both moisturize great.
