Estee Lauder's hotly anticipated collaboration with Victoria Beckham is out now. I already reviewed the Morning Aura Illuminating Cream. The Modern Mercury Highlighter is a repromoted shade in really amazing new luxe packaging. The very heavy black and gold, reminiscent of Tom Ford's compact style. This has a textured black leather case which is amazing. I'm not usually a sucker for packaging, but this one is worthy of awe and admiration. I would like many brands to be in this luxe leather package. I've already started to think how I could put another product in this case when I use this highlighter up.
It's currently in stock on Net-A-Porter.com and select pieces are on NeimanMarcus.com and Nordstrom.com. It retails for $65. At first I was thinking that was pretty high for Estee Lauder but the package makes up for it. I hate paying for packaging, but I'm into this one. You will get a loud satisfying click when you close this compact.
Per Estee Lauder: "A favorite of Victoria's, this highlighter can be worn as a strobing accent on the cheekbones and with or without bronzer to create that sweaty-skin look."
The highlighter has an embossed fabric style textured look. The texture is a gelee powder, it's thin and not powdery at all. It is buildable from sheer to full coverage. It's finely milled and has a light texture. The color is a medium warm rose gold. It's not a brightening highlighter, but it gives a sheen in a tone similar to my light medium skintone. I agree with the can give a sweaty look part. It can bee too frosty for me if applied heavily, when used with a lighter hand it looks natural. I prefer using the Wayne Goss Air-Brush to apply this.
The texture is similar to Tom Ford's Moodlight, similar level of shimmer and intensity as well. It's pinker than Tom Ford Moodlight's bottom shade. Chanel's Dentelle Precieuse is lighter but similar in tone. Overall, this was a great purchase. I bought it due to hype, but it lived up to it.
