June Sephora Play! Subscription Box

The Sephora Play! subscription box is usually hit or miss for me. The theme of the June box is Summer Starters. Whether you’re sweating in the city or cooling by the pool, kick off your season of sunshine with these warm weather must-haves.

More details about the Sephora Play! subscription box is in the Bookmark tab above then click on Subscription Box Info. This month comes with a summer themed cloth drawstring bag.

Inside is:

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield A weightless primer-meets-sunscreen evens texture, smooths fine lines, and creates a perfect canvas for makeup.

Tarte Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisturizer in Medium Tinted moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 20 delivers lightweight coverage while hydrating with antioxidants.

Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It Innovative hair styling cream enhances natural texture and conditions strands for a polished look without a blow dryer.

Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Creme Moisturizing and frizz-fighting styling cream packed with amino acids enhances, shapes, and defines curls.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub Long-lasting, high-pigment liquid lipstick with a creamy formula glides on smoothly like gloss but leaves a matte finish.

Mugler Alien A dark, daring, and romantic scent that combines notes of spicy chai tea with sweet floral.

I will say this box is probably my least favorite since I’ve re-subscribed. The liquid lipstick is too bright and I’m not into liquid lipsticks anyway. The Briogeo is for curly hair which I don’t have, I have wavy hair. I’ve tried Alien before and it’s too sweet and floral for me. I’m not huge Tarte fan so I wasn’t all that excited about trying the tinted moisturizer. It’s been sitting on my counter for a week without touching it.

The Murad primer is a clear silicone primer sunscreen. It’s thin and mattifies the skin. However, it’s silicone based and pretty much just like the Urban Decay Urban Defense. This has a strong floral scent. I’ll use it but pass on buying a big one.

The Bumble and Bumble cream is for wavy fine hair like mine. I tried it as I normally like Bumble and Bumble. It’s a leave in hair texturizer much like Oribe Matte Waves. However, this is not nearly as good as Oribe. It didn’t have that much hold or shape. It was like a light, slightly moisturizing serum or cream, but it didn’t really add much of a texturizing effect. It does not add weight nor is it sticky, greasy or heavy in texture. It just needs more oomph for me. I’m used to more texture and definition.

It just feels like this box wasn’t really picked out for me. It’s supposed to be curated towards your preferences. Maybe next month will be better.

There is some summer tips on the pamphlet:

Check back on the future samples & empties posts to see what my final thoughts were on some of the items.
