I thought now would be a great time to revisit LOVINAH Skincare and go over the whole line. I first discovered them in about 2018. I was intrigued by what I saw on Instagram as well as Dragon’s Blood the ingredient it was so interesting to me. I also wanted to support a local business. LOVINAH is based in Houston, and I live in a Houston suburb. I picked a good local one to support because I really do love their products and continue to come back to their products time & time again. LOVINAH’s products are high quality, effective and have a green chemistry kind of feel. The creator Joy merges green beauty with science. That’s what I’ve loved about them for so long. Now that they’re sold on Cultbeauty and Beauty Heroes I figure it’s time to do an overview of what I’ve tried. You can see my first two more in depth posts HERE & HERE but I’ll summarize here as well.
I’ve tried the Dragon’s Blood Probiotic Tonic before. It’s actually been reformulated from the first version I tried. Now it’s more soothing, a bit thicker and more of a light gel essence texture (previous one was watery). Details per LOVINAH:

This essence has a few antioxidant rich tea extracts, soothing cucumber & rose, Dragon’s Blood (healing, soothing, purifying), antioxidants like beet and astaxanthin, hydrating glycerin, hyaluronic acid and lactic acid, plus probiotics and prebiotics inulin & alpha-glucan oligosaccharide. It has a faint berry color and a light berry scent. I like that the vinegar and witch hazel went away and the prebiotics and lactic acid (natural moisturizing factor) were added. I think this essence would actually suit everyone now. It layers well, hydrates and has a nice variety of antioxidants, prebiotics and purifying/healing ingredients. Dragon’s blood is not really that common in mainstream skincare so it’s unique. I’m an essence nut and this is one of my favorites from the brand.

I love LOVINAH’s glossy black bottles and gold tops. They’re heavyweight and luxe. Some of the key ingredients are the healing/soothing/purifying Dragon’s blood, pre/probiotics, antioxidant rooibos tea, brightening undecylenoyl phenylalanine & nymphaea alba flower extract plus hydrating snow mushroom & galactoarabinan. I love that it’s got MSM, panthenol and I’m quite fond of the blood orange oil. For the most part LOVINAH’s essential oil use is light & well done. I happen to really like blood orange so it works for me. This serum is hydrating, layers well and has a light scent. Think of it as an antioxidant, hydrating serum that also helps brighten and soothe. Plus it has peptides. It well rounded and ticks most the boxes you need. You could use this alone and not need much else depending on your skin type. It should suit most skin types, I can’t see why it wouldn’t.

Joy makes the most inventive products. This gel cream just goes to show her genius. It goes beyond the core Dragon’s Blood line and adds mastic water (brightening, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory), ultra stable vitamin C, milk thistle (antioxidant), cloudberry & lingonberries (antioxidant), niacinamide, fermented purslane (soothing), ceramides, superoxide dismutase & L-Glutathione (power antioxidants). This gel cream also has a patent pending delivery system for the ingredients. It’s this juicy watermelon pink color (now that I look at it this photo turned out more intense color wise than the real product just FYI). The gel cream has a very minimal scent (like very minimal compared to the rest of the line) and no silicones. It sinks right in to hydrate and plump and doesn’t pill. I use it as a hydrating layer, those with more oily skin could use it as a moisturizer. It’s never heavy or greasy, just light, bouncy & hydrating. If you’re a green beauty addict, gel cream aficionado then you’ll be into this. It’s truly unique.

This is kind of like the mist version of the gel cream plus it’s the brands only mist. The spray is fine and it has a light scent like the gel cream. Very minimal, natural ingredient scent only. Maybe a hint of blood orange which I love. Do shake it up before use as it separates a little. I find this mist moisturizing and soothing. It’s got red snow algae, ceramides & firming spilanthes acmella plus the purslane, Dragon’s Blood, mastic water, prebiotics and hyaluronic acid. It’s a nice mist, I enjoy mine. It’s unique and I would buy it again. If you like green beauty mists you’ll love it.

In short this is a rinsable cleansing balm (emulsifies) with a smooth texture and addicting berry scent. The berry scent is superbly divine, very natural no gourmand or too sweet scent. I find the cleansing balm medium weight and it has a glossy smooth texture. There are very few cleansing balms that aren’t oily feeling even though they are oil balms. This is one of them. I almost threw this in my top three cleansing balms of all time and honestly it might be up there now. If you like cleansing balms this is a must try. As long as you like berry scents. I feel like it’s a good price for what it is as well. Mine has lasted quite a while. The texture and quality is really well done.
The Blue Butterfly Stem Cell Hydration Mask has become my favorite mask from the LOVINAH line. This is a great hydrating and restoring mask. Details per LOVINAH:

So you know I’m not a huge wash off mask fan. One I’m very lazy, two I don’t have time and three I feel if you have a good routine you don’t need masks. This is one of the few I actually like. It has a creamy texture and a light unique scent. It’s not an essential oil scent or anything. I honestly can’t think of anything like it so it’s really just the natural ingredients. Don’t let the cobalt blue hue scare you. I was afraid it would stain, but it does not. This creamy textured mask doesn’t dry down which is a must for my drier skin. I feel like this mask just perks up my skin by hydrating, smoothing, calming and restoring. It’s not necessary, but it’s a nice treat. It is my favorite of all her masks. It’s really unique as well. You have seawater, snow mushroom, blue spirulina, butterfly bush & pea, prebiotics, gotu kola, MSM, panthenol, blue mushroom, agave, blue yarrow, apple stem cell extract and hydrators. Really a nice product if you enjoy this type of mask.
It looks like the Honey Glow Face Polish was discontinued. That’s probably good as it wasn’t one of my favorites. It was a bit harsh and I preferred it as a body polish. The Royal Jelly Hydrating Overnight Mask is a plump sweet, honey inspired sleeping mask. Details per LOVINAH:

This has a light cream gel texture, with a warm light sweet honey inspired scent and yellow hue. I have a love/hate relationship with this product. I love it for what it is-a unique nutrient rich peptide, bee pollen, propolis, royal jelly, snail mucin gel mask. However, it’s not enough for my skin as an overnight mask so I have to layer it. Layering it causes pilling. I’ve tried this numerous ways but it never seems to work for me. So alas I gave up trying. Great idea for a product, maybe best for more oily skin that can use this as a last layer? Dry skin will have to layer it. Goddess Glow Bio-Retinol Balm has a fun light balm texture. I wrote about it HERE. In short it’s an overnight balm. It’s lighter than others, not too heavy. It has really nice unique things like kahai, black cumin & abyssinian oils plus vitamin a alternatives date, moth bean, beta-carotene & bakuchiol. It also has vitamin C, rosehip, sea buckthorn, natural AHAs, kojic acid and gold flakes. A nice glow giving balm. It hits a lot of treatment areas, I plan on buying another for winter shortly. I like the lighter texture compared to heavier balms. This is more of a one and done balm. Use it over a few hydrating layers and it’s great for lazy nights. The Third Eye Rejuvenating Serum is a product I bought when it launched and liked it, but didn’t really get to finish the bottle. For some reason I don’t remember I had to move onto something else then my bottle expired. So I haven’t talked about it yet and honestly it’s an item I want to repurchase and try again to make sure I have it straight because it has such a great ingredient list. It’s an eye serum with colloidal gold, copper tri-peptide, amethyst, haloxyl, regu-age, pepha tight & horse chestnut. I will give this it’s full due review next year. It’s on my short list. When I was using it I quite enjoyed it so I think it’ll be a good review.
Blue-Lotus Anti-inflammation Oil has a smooth texture. It’s quite nice. I like her droppers as well for the oil bottles. I talked about it HERE and pretty much still feel the same. I think this oil has a nice texture, it’s the only oil from the line I’ve tried. The Dragon’s Blood Probiotic Mask was the first I tried from LOVINAH. It was reformulated with a nice smooth creamy texture. It has a beet like color. This mask is for purifying & increasing cellular turnover. It makes you flush a bit. I think it’s great for problem skin, it’s just too powerful for my rosacea skin. I talked about it HERE. I know many who swear by it, it’s the cult favorite from the brand. If you like wash off masks that purify this is for you. If you’re sensitive or have rosacea proceed with caution. The Black Tea Probiotic Purifying Face Cleanser is about the same for me. Nice product for those who need a good purifying. It’s way too drying for my skin. I talked about it HERE. It now has a more citrus versus mint scent but it’s still best for more oily or problem skin. I think the Super Green Mask & Serum got discontinued. Or maybe they’ll be revamped. Not sure. I did talk about the serum in the linked post at the beginning.
The Divine Rooibos + Nilotica Moisturizer is a heavier weight lotion moisturizer. I talked about it HERE. This moisturizer has a lot of nice qualities. It has nilotica shea butter, rooibos (antioxidant powerhouse tea), vitamin C, MSM, glutathione, prebiotics and tamarind. It falls into that category for me where it’s too heavy for a day moisturizer unless it’s winter and it’s not enough at night even in the summer. I think those with less dry skin will love this at night and it is a nice day moisturizer for drier skin. Last but not least is the Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Oil. Such a genius product. This cleansing oil has encapsulated salicylic acid to exfoliate pores, plus it emulsifies to rinse clean. It’s light textured which is great, and it won’t leave you feeling oily after. It also has vitamin C and smells divine like the cleansing balm as it has the same berries. This oil also has tomato seed oil which I adore. This has made its way to be in my favorite three cleansing oils. I haven’t made that post yet but it will be there. I did talk about it HERE when it was in the Boxwalla box. You can use it as a mask or cleansing oil. Or both if you massage on in the morning and then rinse off later. The Copper Peptide & EGF Ampoules are next for me to try and I talked about them above.
LOVINAH also has a makeup line that’s new. The eyeshadow palettes are so spectacular. Brilliant color, pigmented, buttery shades that glide on effortlessly. The mattes are great as well. My favorite is the Goddess Glow Palette which you can see on Instagram HERE. I talked about the Eye Magic Palette HERE. Overall, there’s something for everyone.
