May Lindstrom The Youth Dew

I have been quite addicted to facial oils lately. They have been doing amazing things to my skin. Read about my recent facial oil journey HERE. I’m going through ones I’ve been testing one by one. Next up is May Lindstrom The Youth Dew. I got this divine facial oil in a Cult Beauty gift with purchase. It was an amazing deal. Details per Neiman Marcus:

This joyously over-the-top hydrating potion transforms skin with a power-packed bouquet of 20 ambitiously regenerating and indulgent plant and botanical oils infused with time-stopping CoEnzyme Q10.

The Result A petal soft complexion that glows with ageless grace.

The Ritual Massage a couple of potent drops into wet skin, morning and night, paired with the blue cocoon.

This comes packaged in a perfect little black glass bottle with a pump. The pump is perfect. It dispenses the right amount of oil with ease. The oil has a medium to heavier weight and has this golden orange hue. It’s a very intensely colored oil. The scent is slightly floral and just divine. It’s not too fragranced like strong essential oils but it has an aromatherapy essential oil component to it.

This oil is a little more suited to the dry and normal skin types and less combo/oily skin. Not that it can’t be used for any skin type it’s just going to depend on the season and where you live climate wise. This uses oils that are more hydrating like avocado, olive and plum kernel. These three oils are all high in omega 9 fatty acids and oleic acid. Avocado oil can help boost collagen and soothe itchy skin.

Jojoba oil is most like natural skin oils (sebum) and high in eicosenoic acid. Meadowfoam oil is similar to jojoba but cheaper and it has antioxidant and skin softening properties. It also can help slow TEWL (Trans Epidermal Water Loss).

Sea Buckthorn is high in palmitoleic acid & omega 3 a-linlenic acid like rosehip & kukui nut oil. Great for inflammation. Pomegranate seed oil is high in punicic acid (omega 5) a polyunsaturated fatty acid classified as conjugated linolenic acid. In short it helps with inflammation and aids in skin repair. Pomegranate seed oil is high in antioxidants to fend off free radicals & also high in tannins which acts as an astringent and helps with pore size.

Tamanu oil helps with healing or regenerating. The rosehip, pomegranate, evening primrose & borage oils are high in tannins as discussed above. Evening primrose is also high in omega 6 or linoleic acid which is good for oily skin and helps lighten this up. It’s also high in gamma linoleic acid to help enhance the epidermal barrier. It has soothing properties that can help with irritation or inflammation.

The rest of the oils are essential oils. This oil has a nice blend of oils that are hydrating, soothing, ones that have antioxidant and inflammatory properties. I love this oil. It’s been so lovely this winter. It is a heavier oil but not too heavy. It’s balanced out. I find it intensely hydrating yet it sinks in with no greasy feel for a perfect glow. It’s a little pricey but it has high quality ingredients. With oils you get what you pay for.
