October Boxwalla Subscription Box: African Botanics Resurrection Cell Recovery Serum

So I’ve been meaning to write this review for about six months. Other things just kept popping up in the meantime, but now that Boxwalla is launching their October beauty box with this gorgeous African Botanics Resurrection Cell Recovery Serum it needs to be reviewed. I’ve already used one bottle in its entirety and you’ll notice the old style below with the new more sleek repackaging above. The bottle is still the same it’s just the text style that changed. The Resurrection Cell Recovery Serum is a night serum designed to lift, firm and brighten the skin. Details per African Botanics:

Diminishes the damage caused by sun, time, and pollution and protects skin with antioxidants using rare ingredients harvested in South Africa.

Powered by Retinol, Resveratrol and plant peptides to smooth lines and wrinkles.

Restores moisture loss with African Resurrection plant and Hyaluronic acid while boosting collagen to support the structure of healthy and radiant skin.

The Boxwalla Beauty Box is a bi-monthly subscription box that’s all about green beauty that’s never boring. It’s pretty much my favorite subscription box. The October box is a sequel to August featuring one of my all time favorite brands-African Botanics. The theme is ‘The Intrepid Pattern of Plants’. This sequel pairs perfectly with the August box (African Botanics Fleurs D’Afrique Recovery Oil) but it also stands very well on its own.

African Botanics combines native African plant extracts with other plant extracts for potent products. This serum has soothing and anti-inflammatory ingredients like arnica, cucumber, mallow, Ferox aloe, gotu kola, resurrection, rice protein & chamomile. You have hydrating ingredients like algin (brown algae), cucumber, glycerin, Ferox aloe, hyaluronic acid, linoleic acid, wheat germ, marula & baobab oils. African Botanics included antioxidants like nettle, resveratrol, vitamin B5, E and C (in the form of Ascorbyl Methylsilanol Pectinate a derivative). They also included sugarcane a natural glycolic acid and phytic acid (evens out tone creating a fresh, radiant and healthy-looking complexion). Vitamin C and Swiss garden cress liposomes help tackle spots and discoloration. The retinol pretty much help with everything-lines, wrinkles, uneven tone and texture.

This serum also contains some fun African plant extracts like Ferox aloe (anti-inflammatory, aids in wound healing and inhibits microbial growth. Read more HERE), Resurrection plant (antioxidant & increasing production of elastin and collagen. Read more HERE), Chlorella Vulgaris (green algae rich in carotenoids, stimulates collagen production) & horsetail (antioxidant, skin tightening). This serum has a water and witch hazel base. Witch hazel has astringent properties, plus it’s an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

The serum has a clear light gel texture. I’s housed in a sparkling green glass bottle that is perfection. This has a pump style dispenser. This serum melts into the skin with ease and provides a light hydrating layer. As you can see above it’s packed full of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, hydrating & anti-aging ingredients. I absolutely loved this night serum. It layers beautifully and my skin had a radiant healthy glow while using this. My complexion was a bit more radiant and bright while using this serum.
