There was a time when I thought facial mists were useless. I remember actually posting 'half of it goes not on your face so what's the point?' I have come to realize the error of my ways. Facial mists are great for layering and I really love them for helping my facial oils penetrate better. A misted face helps facial oils or other serums and even moisturizers penetrate better. They're also great at keeping a mask moist so it doesn't dry out and get uncomfortable. While I have come to love and appreciate what a mist can do for me during my routine, I do not use the during the day to mist my face as a refresher. I find that method dries my skin out more than not misting at all. Not all mists are created equal. I do tend to lean towards ones that are hydrating but also ones that have a sensorial experience. That is one thing a mist will give you-a nice experience. Sometimes that's the best benefit.
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist is one of the mists I've used the longest. It actually helped me get into mists to begin with. It's got this luxe frosted glass bottle, has the finest mist spray ever and the scent is to die for. It's got a neroli and rose base but the rose is light. I'm not into strong rose mists. It also has their signature thermal waters with minerals, plus apple fruit extract and phospholipids. It's not the most hydrating mist out of the ones I've tried but this one is the luxe sensorial experience type of mist. The super fine spray plus the scent is what makes this one one of my favorites. Now a mist I find both sensorial and hydrating is Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator. This one has a more herbal green scent that I love. The mist is not as fine as Omorovicza but that's just fine for me. It has aloe combined with fatty acids from oils (jojoba, marula, evening primrose, sea buckthorn, hemp, borage, almond & sesame) plus herbal extracts and a few essential oils. The scent is there but it's not overpowering. I love the earthy green scent, it's relaxing plus it really is a more of a hydrating mist than just a floral water type. It's also really affordable. A recent mist I have come to love is Le Mieux ISO-Cell Recovery Solution. This one has no sensorial benefits as it's fragrance free. It's also really light textured but it's very hydrating. It uses amino acids and minerals to hydrated and soothe. It really works as well plus it's very affordable. I find it soothing and repairing, it's really great for rosacea or barrier repair. It won't irritate or make anything worse. The mist isn't super fine like Omorovicza either but you can replace the spray top if you wish. I've just gotten used to it and it's not a big deal to me anymore. It's not forceful of anything. Lastly I did throw in the NIOD SDSM2 which is one I've used up a few bottles of. This one is hard to find in stock, and yes it's pricey seeming but honestly the size is twice that of any normal mist at 8 fl oz. I love the teal hue (from the antioxidant malachite). This mist helps soothe, fights oxidative stress and it help prevent water loss. It has superoxide dismutase (antioxidant, anti-inflammatory), malachite (antioxidant), four o'clock flower for inflammation and marine exopolysaccharides for hydration/preventing water loss. The scent is light and just from the ingredients, no added fragrance or essential oils. The spray is pretty much like Josh Rosebrook and Le Mieux, maybe slightly more forceful? Hold it further back when you spray. I really enjoy this one, it lasts forever, I've been through couple and find it does help soothe as well. Review HERE.
Omorovicza was chosen due to it's super fine spray, luxe look, sensorial aspect and it has the thermal waters rich in minerals so you get more than just a floral water mist. Josh Rosebrook is sensorial, truly hydrating and affordable. Le Mieux is soothing & hydrating, affordable and has skin repairing benefits all with no fragrance so it's great for sensitive skin or bad barrier days. NIOD is a good value, it's soothing and has nice antioxidants plus it seems to help reduce irritation with consistent use.
*Omorovicza, Le Mieux, NIOD gifted. All thoughts are my own (I have bought the NIOD and Omorovicza on my own many times before gifting).
