Alpha-H Age Delay Hand and Cuticle Cream: Review

Alpha-H Age Delay Hand & Cuticle Care Cream doesn't get enough posted love from me. So time to give it it's own post and review. This has become by far my favorite night hand cream, as well as my favorite Alpha-H product. Alpha-H is an Aussie brand I discovered on Cultbeauty. I buy it off of Beautybay now because they have free shipping included in the price.

Per Cultbeauty's website: "We invest small fortunes into ‘preserving’ our skin’s youthful glow, but it’s no good if your hands betray your years. Oft forgotten in our quest to stave off ‘age’, hands are constantly exposed to sunlight, free radicals and dehydrating soaps, sanitisers and detergents, but help is (finally) on hand (sorry)! Age Delay Hand & Cuticle Care Cream contains Alpha-H’s signature Glycolic Acid – an AHA, which gently loosens the bonds that bind dulling dead cells to skin’s surface and in turn, accelerates cells’ repair and renewal processes. With regular use, delicate skin becomes stronger, thicker and younger-looking – your hands will look positively pampered!

Winner of the Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible’s ‘Best Anti-Ageing Hand Cream’ award, this rich velvety formula quickly replenishes precious moisture whilst improving the appearance of crêpiness, age spots and hyperpigmentation thanks to 10% Glycolic Acid. A fragrant blend of essential oils – including Orange Blossom, Rose, Geranium, Chamomile, Lemon and Rosewood – helps to nourish, smooth and brighten hardworking hands, while Jojoba and Avocado oils, together with Vitamin E work to strengthen, repair and protect skin and cuticles. Intensive yet easily absorbed, this sinks in beautifully with no oily residue, so you can carry on being a multi-tasking miracle worker. High five Alpha-H!"

The texture is thick. It's greasy enough to last all night and takes a few minutes to soak in. Smells like citrus. Because it is thick and greasy enough to last the night, it's not a great day cream. I love the idea of using Glycolic Acid on my hands at night to fight age spots. Lets face it, I have neglected my hands my whole life, worse than my neck. You always think of treating your face first, and wear daily sunscreen. Then you might think about your neck. Hands always get the shaft. I tried to use those sunscreen hand creams, but I wash my hands so often in the daytime they never seemed to work because I was always washing it off five minutes later.

What I love about this the most is the thick greasy texture that lasts all night, and it has 10% Glycolic Acid to help with pigmentation and exfoliation at night. Technically when using an Alpha Hydroxy Acid like Glycolic Acid, you should use sunscreen in the day. Then you run into the same problem I stated as above, washing it off too often. So in theory yes great idea, in reality it doesn't always happen as it should.

I'm on my third tube now since I found this. Unless I can find something else I like better this stays my Hero night hand cream. A word of caution, do not apply then put your finger in your eye, it burns. It burns open cuts too from the Glycolic Acid.
