Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Morning Aura Illuminating Cream: Review & Swatches

Estee Lauder just released it's much anticipated collaboration with Victoria Beckham-“I want to make women feel empowered, to feel sexy and confident. This makeup collection does that. I’m a girl’s girl, I love to make women feel like the best version of themselves.”

The collection released online at EsteeLauder.com and BergdorfGoodman.com about two weeks ago. It sold out that day. I grabbed three items off EsteeLauder.com and as a first time user got 15% off. Since this collection is more expensive than usual for Estee Lauder that definitely helped. Currently a few pieces are in stock on NeimanMarcus.com and the whole line is available at Net-A-Porter.com. I see a few items on Nordstrom.com as well though they look back ordered until October 10th. I do regret not getting the Bitter Clove eyeshadow originally, so I ordered it yesterday from Net-A-Porter.

Morning Aura Illuminating Cream is part primer and part illuminating cream. "Beautiful skin is the starting point of the Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder Collection. Part moisturizer, part brightening primer, this creme contains micro-pearls to instantly illuminate and brighten. It gives skin a fresh morning glow. Apply any time to wake up your look. In the morning, wear it alone or under makeup as a luminous primer. Use it midday to refresh and brighten."

The packaging is gorgeous, a weighty, tall, golden fluted pump with a gold 'VB' on the top. It's pricey at $95. I threw away the box and oddly the packaging doesn't say what size it is. It's either 30 or 50ml based on size. Both websites don't list a size either. If anyone just bought it let me know what the size is.

The texture is a light cream that feels moisturizing at first but it sets down a little to give a good base for applying makeup. It's not greasy at all. Most illuminating or hydrating primers stay moist like lotion or don't set. This one is interesting that it sets a little and isn't greasy or too moist. It has a minimal scent not really worth noting as I can barely detect it. The cream is a luminous white pearl with bits of gold and red pearl. It blends in to be barely perceivable, just adds a really healthy luminous glow.

It's similar to Armani's Fluid Sheer Radiant Pigment, but more brightening, lighter and whiter. Armani's has more a golden red fire glow to it. It's also similar to Tom Ford's powder highlight duo Moodlight, the top shade. Same cream white pearl with hints of gold and red pearl. The texture and overall feel of it remind me of Tom Ford's Illuminating Primer. I like this one better. It's got a warmer feel to it than Tom Ford.

This is pricey, but it has a luxurious package with a fabulous product. I would recommend it to anyone. It's illuminating without being greasy, shiny nor too shimmery. I would say this collection overall is a overwhelming success for Estee Lauder. The luxe packaging alone will be a draw, then add the wearable easy for everyone colors.
