MUKTI Organics: Overview

MUKTI Organics is an organic Australian skincare brand. They use native Australian extracts, everything is vegan, cruelty free and they focus on high quality ethical production. I think of them as eco luxury as well. “Our eponymous brand name originates from Sanskrit and means to liberate oneself from fear, ignorance and false knowledge. In Hindu, it means to be reborn.”-MUKTI.com

So far everything I have tried has been great, high quality, good textures and all in the violet glass which I love. So far I’ve only tried a few samples and a few larger items from the brand. I just saw they came to the US on Beautyhabit which I’m super stoked about. Vital A Elixir is a night retinol serum. Details per MUKTI:

This serum has a light creamy gel-serum texture and a vibrant yellow orange color. They do use a dropper which is not my favorite type of dispenser as I prefer a pump, but the inside product makes up for the one dislike I had. I love Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR). This is a newer member to the retinol family. It’s a retinoic acid ester so it’s related to retinoic acid. The beauty of this version is that it does not have to be converted by the body to retinoic acid. It simply binds with the retinoid receptors of the cells to do its thing. As it doesn’t need conversion by the body it’s supposed to be less irritating.

So lets talk about retinol in general. Retinol, retinoids or retinal are all forms of vitamin A which accelerate skin cell turnover leading to a rejuvenated complexion. Retinol is the gold standard in skincare because it helps with everything-lines, wrinkles, uneven texture and skin tone, dullness. You name it retinol helps. It’s your anti-aging power house ingredient. It ranges from prescription strength to over the counter. Retinol and other forms have to be converted by enzymes in the skin to become vitamin A aka retinoic acid. Only as this last product retinoic acid can retinol work on the skin.

Here’s the basic conversion:

Retinyl palmitate > Retinol > Retinaldehyde > Retinoic acid

So the closer you get to retinoic acid the more effective it is. They all have far less irritation or side effects than prescription retinoic acid. Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR) is the same retinoid used in Sunday Riley Luna, The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid & Zelens Power A. I actually really love this type of vitamin A. I find it completely non-irritating, I can use it daily and it gives fabulous results. This serum has aloe, lycopene from tomato extract (powerful antioxidant, rich in beta carotene), rosehip oil (also antioxidant rich) and paracress extract. Paracress is like a natural botox plant it helps with wrinkles and fine lines. Overall I absolutely loved this serum, it’s effective, has a fabulous texture plus it’s powered with antioxidants like lycopene which I love. Lycopene + Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate = Happy. I experienced no side effects at all and was able to use it everyday. This is suitable for all skin types.

The Vital B Elixir is a hydrating barrier repair serum. Details per MUKTI:

A gentle elixir that assists with hydration, enhancing skin clarity and luminosity. Niacinamide (B3) is a multi-tasking vitamin that has been shown to strengthen the skin and addresses a plethora of conditions. Combined with soothing and calming native extracts of Kakadu Plum, Mountain Pepper Berry and Native Pomegranate, this elixir works wonders to combat dryness, balance sebum production, increase collagen and decrease pigmentation.

Our Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a unique and completely natural, vegan form of HA. It is produced through the fermentation of Bacillus subtilis, a probiotic that has antioxidant properties. Due to its extremely low molecular weight, it can readily penetrate through all layers of the dermis and deliver plumping and hydrating benefits. This serum has a nice slippery hydrating texture. It’s got aloe, hyaluronic acid, panthenol and glycerin to hydrate and soothe, cucumber seed oil (increase firmness/elasticity, barrier protective), multi-tasker niacinamide (reduce pore size, strengthen barrier, reduce fine lines/wrinkles, evens skin tone), kakadu plum (high in natural vitamin C) plus extracts like red clover (soothe), willow herb (anti-inflammatory) & mountain pepper (anti-inflammatory). This has a light soothing natural scent. It has no added fragrance or essential oils. I love the texture, it’s hydrating, soothing and helps strengthen the skins barrier. The Aloe Vera Moisturizer for combination/oily skin seemed perfect for the summer and as I was making my order in the spring so I grabbed it. Details per MUKTI:

A light, refreshing Aloe Vera based moisturiser that works to soothe and calm sebaceous (oil) activity. Plant based botanicals including C02 extracts of Calendula and Coenzyme Q10 for antioxidant protection are blended with bioactive native extracts of Kakadu Plum, Finger Lime Caviar and Aniseed Myrtle to tone and balance blemish prone skin.

Ideal for soothing the skin after sun and exposure to elements and as a lightweight moisturiser for men post shaving.

Benefits

  • Calm and balance
  • Tone acne prone skin
  • After sun soothing

This moisturizer has a very light fluid texture. It’s yellow in color and has a citrus scent. It was perfect texture wise for summer, very lightweight. It has aloe (soothing), calendula infused sunflower oil, kakadu plum (antioxidant, high vitamin C), myrtle, finger lime caviar extract (high in natural vitamin C, has natural AHAs from citric acid) plus calendula (soothing) and paracress (wrinkle reducing). Due to the finger lime caviar extract this has natural AHAs so it’s good at keeping the skin clear. The citrus scent is pretty strong and it does have lemon oil which sometimes doesn’t suit everyone. I think it was maybe the wrong moisturizer for me. However the other two moisturizer had coconut oil so that’s why I went for this one. This one was a little too light for me even though I am combination.

Overall I really loved the introduction to this brand. I hope to try more of them in the future. I will absolutely repurchase those two booster serums and I’m strongly looking at grabbing their new Hyaluronic Marine Serum. I’d love to hear from you if you’ve tried the brand & what your favorites were.
