NIOD Modulating Glucosides

It took me a second bottle of NIOD Modulating Glucosides to appreciate it’s beauty. Now we all know reading the NIOD site is like trying to decode a second language. In short this is a soothing, repairing and barrier repairing product. Details per NIOD:

Modulating Glucosides is a concentrated emulsion to target signs of skin sensitivity, of discomfort and of irritation. This serum reduces the looks of redness, of itching and of irritation related to dry skin, while helping to target stinging sensations. The formula respects skin integrity and supports hydration, skin barrier and general dermal repair.

Key Technology:

  • BIO-ACTIVE GLUCOSIDES A complex for dermal balance that acts through multiple pathways to soothe skin immediately by targeting the “cross-talk” stimulated by pro-irritant mediators. This technology also counteracts uneven skin tones caused by sensitivity and/or irritation, while helping to support dermal endogenous components.
  • MULTI-MOLECULAR-LIPID COMPLEX A synergistic and potent blend of Oat Synthetic Analogues, Ceramides, Purified Ginger Root and other dermal-friendly lipids to reduce signs of redness, itching, stinging and burning.
  • NEURO-COSMETIC PEPTIDE A lipo-peptide that prevents and reverses the signs of chemical-induced irritation.
  • NARINGENIN CHALCONE A highly-purified bio-active molecule that comforts stressed skin.
  • YEAST-DERIVED SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE A potent molecule that neutralizes damage and signs of ageing that can be induced by the Superoxide molecule.
  • PH-BALANCING GOLDEN-EYE GRASS COMPLEX An independently-studied plant complex that balances skin pH in the immediate and shorter-terms, to reduce signs and feelings of sensitivity.
  • ACTIVATED CELLS FROM THE MARVEL OF PERU A clinically-studied plant derivative that increases the level of skin tolerance to assaults, while improving dermal homeostasis.
  • TASMANIAN PEPPERBERRY Rich in flavanones, anthocyanins, and minerals, this active technology helps to calm stressed skin, acting almost immediately.
  • PURIFIED LEVOMENOL Specific molecule offers surface barrier support, providing hydration and enhancing dermal comfort.

Ingredients

Aqua (Water), Squalane, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Pentylene Glycol, Propanediol, Hexyldecanol, Bisabolol, Butylene Glycol, Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside, Rosmarinyl Glucoside, Caffeyl Glucoside, Gallyl Glucoside, Tetrasodium Tetracarboxymethyl Naringeninchalcone, Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, 4-t-Butylcyclohexanol, Cetylhydroxyproline Palmitamide, Hydroxyphenyl Propamidobenzoic Acid, Palmitoyl tripeptide-8, Superoxide Dismutase, Sodium PCA, PCA, Arginine, Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Valine, Isoleucine, Proline, Threonine, Histidine, Phenylalanine, Aspartic Acid, Sodium Lactate, Mirabilis Jalapa Callus Extract, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Curculigo Orchioides Root Extract, Isochrysis Galbana Extract, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, Stearic Acid, Dextran, Isoceteth-20, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Xanthan gum, Tocopherol, Propyl Gallate, Tromethamine, Dehydroacetic Acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, Benzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol.

The color is yellow. The texture is a creamy serum, medium weight. It’s hydrating and while it’s nourishing it’s not overtly greasy or heavy. I know it works on oily skin friends. It may be a moisturizer for some but for many it will be a serum. It has no discernible scent and is free of added fragrance. It goes on well with a slippery kind of texture. Works in every routine with no pilling. It has fatty acids, amino acids, a soothing peptide and quite a few unique ingredients that I’m not going into. I do wish they packaged this with a pump like Survival 0 as it’s a thicker product. The dropper is OK but not ideal. I love the $28 price tag. Sadly it’s been out of stock a lot lately. Covid has had some impacts on ingredient sourcing for many businesses.

I find this nourishing, soothing, calming and it helps reduce irritation really well. It helps with redness also. If you have rosacea or sensitive skin this is for you. If you compromised your skin barrier with actives (hey we’ve all been there) then this is for you. If you want to prep your skin for something like winter to prevent barrier damage ahead of time, then this is for you. It’s different and worth trying. It’s become a must have for me in my skincare arsenal. Sign up for the in stock notice and you’ll get notifications.

*This bottle was PR from brand. All thoughts are my own. I purchased my first and subsequent bottles from this one.

  1. A favourite! So soothing. I replaced the dropper with one of my old pumps from Survival 0 and it is much better. Great post
