OSKIA Liquid Mask

You all know how much I love British brand OSKIA. One of their more recent launches is the Liquid Mask which is an acid or peeling serum. Details per OSKIA:

With 10% Lactic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Red Snow and Black Carrot Extracts, Pro-Vitamin B5, Cactus Steam extract and MSM.

An overnight radiance and conditioning peel containing 10% Lactic Acid, super-nutrients, multi-vitamins and anti-oxidants to visibly illuminate and improve skin condition and texture.

Lactic Acid powerfully but safely exfoliates while boosting moisture levels to rejuvenate, revitalise and brighten while your skin sleeps. Superior (mixed molecular weight) Hyaluronic Acid deeply hydrates and plumps. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) evens skin tone and reduces the appearance of skin blemishes, pores, congestion and boosts skin immunity. Red Snow and Black Carrot extracts protect against free-radical damage, while patented Cactus Stem extract, Pro-Vitamin B5 and MSM condition while calming redness and irritation.

This acid serum was a total joy to use. It has a light slippery texture. I love that it's not too sticky or heavy feeling. It just glides right on the skin. It's got this gorgeous pink hue to it which I think is from the black carrot juice. This has no essential oils or artificial fragrance so the scent is minimal just from the natural ingredients. This acid serum uses lactic acid which is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). Lactic acid has a larger molecule than glycolic so it's more gentle on the skin. This serum has a 10% lactic acid concentration which is just about right for me. 5% is nice but can be a little low and I don't get as good results with it. I like a 10% more. This one is nice because it doesn't sting my skin at all. I've had some 10% lactic acid serums do that. AHAs: exfoliate the outer surface of the skin increasing cellular turnover, help reduce fine lines & wrinkles, add moisture to the skin, help brighten & even the skin tone, reduce sunspots & hyperpigmentation, increase collagen production, help with acne and helps with product absorption. There’s lots of reasons to love them. Lactic acid is actually a natural moisturizing factor found naturally in the skin (at lower concentrations).

This acid serum also has MSM which is a sulfur compound found naturally in our bodies and some plants. You can take MSM as a supplement for joint health and it touts other uses and claims. It’s also been talked about as the beauty mineral to help with anti-aging and skin health. It does this by supporting collagen production and health, as well as being anti-inflammatory. It's got hydrating glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, panthenol and propanediol. Liquid Mask has multi-tasker niacinamide that reduces lines/wrinkles, pigmentation, pore size and it helps strengthen the skins barrier. Prickly pear is a cactus that's becoming increasing popular in skincare. Beyond it making a good margarita the extract has polyphenols (antioxidants) and fatty acids to nourish and soothe the skin. Camellia flower extract has antioxidant, anti-pollution and soothing properties. Lastly this has red snow and black carrot which help with free radical damage. I always love OSKIAs nutrient focused recipes.

I love that this has such a great light texture, it's a very pleasant serum to use overall. It doesn't sting, sensitize or irritate my skin at all. I found it to be a nice middle of the road acid serum. It's not too strong so it doesn't sensitize or irritate my skin, nor is it such a low percentage of lactic acid that it doesn't do anything. I was able to use it 2-3 nights easy with no negative side effects. I tend to use an acid serum at night opposite of a weaker acid toner in the day. That seems to work for my skin. I'll use my retinols or acid masks on opposite days of an acid serum. I used an acid serum at night as a supplemental addition to my night routine. Almost like a mask. This also can be used as a liquid wash off mask if you wish. Though I would leave it on to get all the benefits of the other nutritional ingredients myself. I think if you're an acid serum connoisseur you'll love this. The formulation and texture are really beautiful. I'm not surprised this already won two awards.
