Tom Ford Lip & Girls: Review & Swatches

When Tom Ford first introduced Lips & Boys I loved the mini lipstick concept. Mainly because I hardly ever use a full size lipstick until the end. I was never able to really find that perfect for me shade from the Boys Collection. Then came The Girls. So far I have found at least six shades I'm totally in love with. I haven't gotten to the mall to see the remaining collection yet. Sadly, they are limited edition, but more about that later. Onto the Girls. Detail below per Nordstrom.

What it is: A clutch-sized mini lipstick that's inspired by the women in Mr. Ford's life.

Clutch-sized. Exciting. Discreet.

Tom Ford introduces 50 girls to his celebrated Boys & Girls collection. Named after women he admires, from intimates to collaborators from around the world, the limited-edition Girls collection debuts in a clutch-sized, ivory-and-gold packaging. Inside the bullet is a lip color that delivers an irresistible effect that complements luminous skin. A decadent mix of vitamins C and E plus shea butter help lavish lips with saturated moisture.

Designed to be worn on their own or layered with one another, each transforming color and finish amplifies one's individuality. From sheer lip color in Lisa, Carine and Amber to ultra-rich lip color in Emma, Grace and Sasha, there’s a shade and finish for every girl.

Finishes:

- Ultra Rich: full coverage and high shine vivid color

- Sheer: hydrating and moisturizing formula delivers the perfect pop of color

I love the Tom Ford sheer formula. Pink Dune is one of my all time favorite lipsticks from any brand. Semi glossy, hydrating and sheer. It gives lips a sheer pop of color with a discrete and adult appropriate shimmer. Some shades have really complex shimmer tones. Some are simple. The sheer shades can be sheer to moderate in pigmentation. I talked about Pink Dune and the formula in general HERE. The texture is buttery and like heaven. The sheer formula is my favorite Tom Ford formula.

I haven't tried the Ultra Rich formula yet as the first launch of shades didn't do anything for me. I grabbed one this time in Katherine. The formula is semi glossy, pigmented, creamy and smooth. It has a more creamy feel than the sheer formula. I love their little clutch and pocket perfect size now with white cases this time. The Boys have brown cases.

Top to Bottom--Fabiola, Katherine, Lara, Carolyn, Edita, Beatrice:

All the shades I purchased are the sheer formula except for Katherine. I'll start to to bottom. Fabiola is a sheer, yet quite pigmented, rose brown with an ever so hint of micro shimmer. Katherine is the perfect creamy pink nude. This is what I wanted Bradley to be when the Boys launched. Plus the Ultra Rich formula is a tad more hydrating, glossy and creamy than the regular satin finish Cream formula. I love this nude, it's the perfect nude. Not too dark not too light. Perfect amount of pink. Lara is a warm moderately shimmery medium nude pink. It's not too sheer with a medium pigmentation. It'll show up on your lips. It has a browned pink tone to it.

Carolyn is a shimmery sheer warm copper pink. It's pretty sheer and has lots of sparkle. The color still shows up quite well on the lips so it's not just a sheer shimmer, there is some color. Edita is a shimmery sheer peachy gold beige with pink shimmer. This has a warm golden peachy beige base with lots of pink tonal shimmer, as well as other tones of shimmer. It warms up the lips with some golden beige and lots of that pink shimmery shift. It's fabulous if you like sheer shades. It still has enough color but it's sheer. Beatrice is a sheer brighter yellow toned pink with tons of green shimmer. I've seen people describe it as blue or gold shimmer so far. This is pretty sheer but it adds a pink tint to the lips with tons of tonal green shimmer. Love it. I love green shimmer.

I love this selection of nudes from Tom Ford. He normally only does colors that are too pale, cool, bright or deep for my preference. The nudes are always too cool, pale, dark or the pinks are too coral. I love that he finally made some nudes in that medium nude range that are warm and perfect for me. The biggest bummer is that these are all limited edition. I cry Why Tom Ford, why? These could all easily be colors I would repurchase time after time for years to come. I bought one back up of each which I never do anymore. So that shows you how much I love the colors.

No matter you're fancy for shades--Pigmented and creamy, light or dark, bright or sheer & shimmery. Whether it's from the Boys or the Girls. There's something for everyone now from Tom Ford. Now some of these Girls just need to become permanent. Fingers crossed.
