Wayne Goss The Luxury Eye Palette, The Essential Eye Kohl & Hourglass Veil Eye Primer

I've been a fan of Wayne Goss for a while. Maybe it's partially due to us being the same age or having the same makeup influences (hello 90s & Kevyn Aucoin—Making Faces was my first beauty book). I love his simple way of approaching things in his videos. I first got into his brushes which are really nice as Japanese made brushes are so well made. I'm not a fan of laser cut brushes (so harsh and you can never go back once you try non-laser cut). I then grabbed a creamy Wayne Goss lipstick which I loved so I was excited to see an eye collection launch. The Luxury Eye Palette is a six shade palette. Normally I'm not a huge pre-made palette fan as I prefer singles, but it's Wayne Goss and it was well priced so I grabbed it. I love a neutral tone palette or eye shadow in general. I will say the size of the palette with six shades is actually quite large, so you get a really good amount of product for the price.

The Imperial Topaz Palette is neutrals but it does lean warm. Details per Beautylish:

Meet the new staple in your eye makeup wardrobe. The Luxury Eye Palette from Wayne Goss features six essential eye shadows in matte, satin, and shimmer finishes you’ll reach for every day. Infused with smooth-blend emollients and micronized pigments, Wayne’s custom eye shadow formula blends with the lightest touch—no special techniques needed.

  • Shade 01 (top left): Light champagne with a satin finish
  • Shade 02 (top middle): Soft bronze with a satin finish
  • Shade 03 (top right): Rich black with a matte finish
  • Shade 04 (bottom left): Copper rose with a satin finish
  • Shade 05 (bottom middle): Warm brown with a matte finish
  • Shade 06 (bottom right): Sparkling champagne with a shimmer finish

The shades are well pigmented with a range of mattes to satin shimmers with one sparkle. You have a light pearly golden champagne, a neutral milk chocolate satin bronze, matte black, satin shimmering copper, warm matte brown & sparkling champagne. The texture is silky and soft. It's pigmented and blends easily. There's no fall out. The shadows aren't powdery or dry at all. They're a really nice texture. I pretty much bought this palette for the top middle bronzey shade. It was well worth it. That is the most amazing mid tone satin brown. I love a satin as it's so flattering. Now one of the things Wayne Goss said was important to him was testing this on older eyes (40+). He said ‘if it looks good on a 60/70/80 year old it will look good on everyone’. I agree and love that he thought about that.

I would say he nailed the textures quite well, especially the satins. I need singles in other shades. This palette was absolutely worth it for just the mid tone brown bronze shade for me. It's absolute perfection for me and I’m sure it will be gone quickly. The two mattes I have already in other palettes, but yes they're basic in a palette if you want just one. The copper shade and highlight are a little warm for my preference but I know many who will love the warmer hue of this palette. The sparkle shade has a nice neutral champagne tone and is a glittery sparkle that's best applied with a finger. It adds a nice sheen. I need a taupe hued palette next—hint hint. And singles.

The Essential Eye Kohl Pencil in Opal is a really nice bronze brown eyeliner. The base shade is a deeper neutral brown with a bronze pearl. What I love about this is that it's soft enough without being too hard, so it smudges well. It’s not too soft either so it’s pigmented and lasts. Opal is not too warm for a bronze eyeliner. It gives a nice soft definition to the eye. I prefer a brown over black.

I haven't actually posted about the new Hourglass Veil Eye Primer. It's easily the best eye primer I have used to date. It has a medium weight cream texture. I love that it's not too dry nor too greasy or oily. It primes the lids, holds eyeshadow well and makes it last longer. I found more liquid ones like FENTY or the original Urban Decay to be harder to blend powder shadows on. This Hourglass one allows powder eyeshadow to blend more easily. It's a bit less sticky feeling than some others. It has a really nice light cream texture and adds a very light neutral nude tint helping blur out some of my lids natural eye darkness. I'm happy I took the plunge to try it. Overall I can't wait to see where the Wayne Goss line goes from here.
