By now you know how much I love the Boxwalla Beauty Box subscription. It's bi-monthly so I never get overwhelmed with too many products and it's always well curated. If you like the luxury green beauty world of skincare you'll love this box. This month for August Boxwalla teamed up with African Botanics. The theme for August is A Saucerful of Skincare Secrets. I am no stranger of the eco-luxe brand and you can see I have written quite a few posts about them, they also have many products that are some of my favorites in multiple categories. I have already tried and written reviews of both these products so I'll glaze over them a bit.
Eye Contour Gel-Serum: This beauty is a cooling and refreshing eye gel. Their eye cream is actually one of my all time favorites. This is a great compliment to the eye cream or it's moisturizing enough to be used alone if you don't have severely dry under eyes. It has a thicker gel texture and for a gel, it actually has a pretty moisturizing or longer lasting hydration. It's got little beads that you squish on application. Think of htis one as soothing, cooling, refreshing, lifting and firming plus a little de-puffing. This has a lot of things I like such as arnica, caffeine, antioxidants, hydrators like beta glucan, seaweed, oligosaccharides & ceramides plus the usual African Botanics plant extracts (honeybush, marula, rooibos). Overall it’s just really a cool texture, it works and the packaging is luxe. Full review HERE.
Silver Rescue Cream: This is a medium weight cream in a stunning sparkling silver glass bottle. This may be medium weight but it's lipid rich and pretty nourishing. This cream is meant to be soothing and repairing. It’s their first unscented and essential oil free product designed for soothing, reactive and sensitive skin. Something I always wanted from green beauty brands is a cream or product for times when I’m sensitive. I have rosacea and while it doesn’t rule my life like it can for many, at times I want a product that’s going to just be soothing and comforting versus active ingredient focused based. Not saying this cream doesn’t have active ingredients as they all have a purpose, but free of vitamin C, retinoids, acids and things like fragrance and essential oils that can irritate more sensitive skin. It’s nice to have that kind of product as even those without sensitive skin can experience irritation at any time.
This cream has a few oils like marula, grape seed, squalane and rosehip plus shea butter. It’s got antioxidants extracts rooibos, baobab fruit and vitamin E. Vitamin E is also soothing. Colloidal silver can help with acne from it’s antimicrobial properties and inflammation. I know we’re not allowed to say CBD is soothing or anti-inflammatory in skincare but I have found it does seem to help soothe from the products I’ve tried it in, It’s new and there’s definitely not a huge amount of studies with the effects in skincare but I expect that to hopefully expand one day and we’ll get more research. This cream has a few other plant extracts they list for soothing or anti-inflammatory properties like Devil’s Claw. Resurrection plant is also really interesting. Have you seen them come back to life from a desiccated state? It’s fun to google. Full review HERE.
