I can't believe it's already August. The time has passed by so quickly. The next Boxwalla beauty box is here and it features British brand VOTARY London. The theme is 'Confessions of a Daffodil'. So I absolutely adore both Boxwalla and VOTARY plus I've already used both of these products so this was an easy review post for me. The August box has two full size items from VOTARY--The Brightening Hyaluronic Serum & Intense Overnight Mask worth $254 for only $49.95.
The Brightening Hyaluronic Serum is the newly revamped version of VOTARY's Toning Serum. I originally talked about the Toning Serum three years ago HERE. It's had some changes made to it but remains the same at heart. It has narcissus extract, neroli flower water, lemon fruit water, blueberry fruit extract, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, natural fruit AHAs plus glycolic acid. It's thin, lightweight and lightly hydrating. It can be used as a serum and I liked to use it as an essence or first step serum. The AHA percentage is low so it's not irritating at all and I was able to tolerate it daily no problem (and you all know I cannot do AHAs much right now). The original version was 1% glycolic and I don't think this one is much higher from the conversations I've had (1-2% range). I actually really like that, too many times we focus on the higher percentage. Neroli is the glow giver while narcissus renews and the gentle AHAs hydrate, brighten and gently exfoliate. It smells utterly divine (I'm a huge neroli fan), the texture is great and it was easy and pleasant to use daily. I'm happy to move onto bottle number three. Overall think radiant glow serum but tolerable for even sensitive skin.
Intense Overnight Mask was the second cream added to the VOTARY line. It has a medium weight creamy texture with a salmon color. Think rejuvenating and restoring night treatment. It has a more velvety creamy texture. So it's not very lipid heavy or occlusive and even more oily skin types will be able to use this. It's silky and velvety. The base is aloe plus it has narcissus, camu camu (brightening/antioxidant), quinoa seed extract, oat flour (soothing) plus tomato, rosehip, avocado, apricot, buriti, black cumin and chia oils. Tomato extract and oil is high in lycopene one of my favorite antioxidants. It does have lavender, rose, neroli & orange essential oils but the scent is light overall. I really love the idea of this cream especially since I'm a huge fan of their Intensive Night Oil. Sadly it just isn't heavy enough for me overall. I find myself dry in the morning. Now I would use this in the daytime in the cooler months. If you're not really dry and more normal to oily or combo, this cream is for you. If you're drier like me you might need to add extra oil or a balm on top. This wasn't a cream I used extensively night after night to see the results due to the texture but my mother loves it, I sent one her way a while back.
This is a nice way to try some extras from VOTARY that aren't the cleansing or facial oils. It gives you the chance to try something different from the line. $49.95 to subscribe and you can use my link HERE.
