Bio-Essence Miracle Bio Water Jelly Make Up Remover: Review

I saw this Asian cleanser on Cultbeauty and decided to try it. Per Cultbeauty's website: "Chuck out those half-empty (quite useless) bottles you’ve stockpiled and prepare to fall in love with Bio-Essence’s Miracle Bio Water Jelly Make Up Remover – without doubt, the most phenomenal formula we’ve ever come across (and a firm favorite amongst skin care-savvy Singaporean women). This gentle gel-textured cleanser dissolves even persistent waterproof mascara, and makes equally light work of eliminating stubborn lip stains, to leave your face perfectly clean and clear in mere moments – and save you a fortune in flannel and pillow case maintenance. With a unique texture, the non-irritating ‘essence’ contains 60% Miracle Bio-Water to soothe, soften and cool as it cleanses – cushioning skin to prevent dragging, tugging and sagging, whilst leaving your face feeling smooth, dewy and perfectly plumped." This retails for about $20 for a 200 ml pump.

The ingredients: Water, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Polyglyceryl-2 Isostearate, C12-15 Pareth-12, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate, Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Fragrance, Sodium Oxide, Calcium Oxide, Maganesium Oxide, Pentylene Glycol (and) 4-t-Butylcyclohexanol, Glyceryl,Caprylate (and) 1,3-Propanediol (and) Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate HCI (and) Glycerin.

The texture is a thin water like gel, it's definitely not irritating and feels like a water cleanser, like using Bioderma Sensibo except in a thicker format. You are supposed to rub this on dry without water, then rinse. So it's very much like a cleansing water, just thicker. It's gentle and my skin didn't feel stripped or tight after using. However, it didn't take off my makeup fully by itself so I tend to use it as step two in a double cleanse. I tested this by cleansing only with this, then sweeping Bioderma Sensibo on a cotton square after, I got makeup residue on the pad still. I also tried this to remove eye makeup, it removed my eyeshadow but barely removed my non waterproof mascara. It also stung a touch in my eyes.

It is also heavily fragranced with a floral scent. That is probably my main complaint about it. If you have sensitive skin and are using this for sensitive skin, the scent may bother you. The scent in combination with the really gentle cleanse, that doesn't fully remove makeup by itself, puts this at the bottom of my cleansers I like list and I wouldn't repurchase this. I much prefer the Bioderma Sensibo.
