I saw this 'pressed serum' pop up on cultbeauty.com and glowrecipie.com around the same time. It sounded interesting so I picked one of the formulations that sounded the best for me. I grabbed Tundra Chaga. Now it's also available on Sephora. Per Sephora:
What it is:
An anti-polluaging serum and moisturizer hybrid, this pressed serum is packed with 60 percent tundra chaga mushroom extract, which provides lasting hydration and nourishment without heaviness.
Solutions for:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Dullness and uneven texture
- Dryness
If you want to know more…
This Pressed Serum is fortified with chaga mushroom extract, which is cold-processed to preserve the mushroom's optimal nutrients. The extract is combined with a blend of fermented oils—including olive and argan— to provide the skin with lasting hydration while protecting against harsh climates and pollution. It minimizes visible signs of aging and pollution, nourishes, and supports skin without heaviness.
The idea of a pressed serum was interesting to me as a skincare addict. I wasn't sure how fluid it would be. The texture is more like a thick gel cream. It almost has a hard pudding like texture. It's thick enough to hold it's shape when you remove some from the jar, yet it melts into skin on contact into a fluid serum oil like texture. The retail is $49 for 1.68 oz. It it brown in color and has an earthy strong mushroom smell. No perfume or fake smell here.
So I LOVE this stuff. I was skeptical at first. The thin texture had me wondering if it would be enough as a cream by itself. I found it was not only moisturizing enough to function as a night cream, it made my forehead wrinkles go away after consistent use. With no break outs or irritation. It does need a good 5-10 minutes to sink in fully, but it left my skin hydrated, glowing and never greasy in the morning. I used this as a night cream. It lasted quite some time and was fairly cheap. It was extremely effective and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone as well as buy it again.
