Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Hydrating Lip Balm No 10: Review & Swatches

I have to admit I have not tried a single Chanel Les Beiges item yet. They've been something I always meant to check out, yet never did. I thought I would try a summer item or two. I'm always looking for tinted lip balms so this was an easy choice to pick, plus it was limited edition. The retail is $36 for a 3g tube. It's a classic thin Chanel black metal tube about the size of a Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick. Chanel's website states: "Comforting balm veils lips in a sheer matte color, while softening and smoothing."

The balm itself is nice, it's moisturizing. It has a very slight scent nothing really discernible. Less of a scent than the Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks, and more perhaps vanilla, not perfume. I can barely tell what it smells like it's that faint. I would say it has more of a satin finish versus matte as stated on Chanel's site. It lasts maybe an hour then needs to be reapplied.

The color is a very sheer light pink cream, no shimmer. The pink shade looks neutral in the tube, but tends to come off cooler on me. Overall, it adds a faint pink tint to my lips, like a pale ballet pink. I can see a hint of tint but it's very sheer and almost the same color as my natural lips. It was hard to capture it well swatched because of how sheer it was, I did one swipe on the top and 4 on the bottom:

Overall, it was a bust for me. Too sheer. The pink was just not my shade, maybe darker or some shimmer for dimension, but it was close to being a clear lip balm. Nothing worth $36. Formula was fine, packaging was nice as always. I imagine there's some who love a sheer pale ballet pink balm, just not me.
