It's been a while since I picked up some new CHANEL makeup. The new CHANEL Spring-Summer 2020 Collection in Desert Dream has such a pretty subdued dreamy pink and brown theme. I really loved the colors they're quite beautiful. CHANEL is always one of those classy high quality brands I can go to time and time again. I've been buying CHANEL for almost twenty five years.
"For her latest collection, CHANEL Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer Lucia Pica draws inspiration from the muted shades, soothing light and powerful stillness of the desert. An ethereal landscape where windswept sands meet the sky, and deep earth tones unite with a golden sun. Using filtered Polaroids to bring the desert into focus, she reveals a palette of peachy rose hues, cool browns and romantic mauves combined with matte and shimmery textures. A soft and sensual collection. A dream to remember."
I picked up three things-The highlighter and two shades of the liquid eyeshadow. The CHANEL highlighters are always stunningly beautiful. ÉCLAT DU DÉSERT Illuminating Powder has a stunning desert scene embossed on the powder. Details per Chanel:
Created by Lucia Pica for the Spring-Summer 2020 Collection, this limited-edition highlighting powder imparts a subtle, golden glow for radiant dimension. An exclusive creation embossed with a sand dune motif.
This is a soft peachy illuminating powder. It gives such a soft and natural peachy sheen to the skin. This is more of a sheen creator than a shimmering typical highlighter. If you want a hint of sheen and a really gentle peachy glow then you'll love this. If you light bling or stronger highlighters this one probably isn't for you. The powder is very soft so it does kick up powder but it's not that dry powdery look on the skin it gives you that natural sheen, like your skin was born with it glow. Due to the depth of the peach this might be a blush for very pale skin, for everyone else it should be fine as a highlighter. I like it, it's subtle, it's not my favorite CHANEL highlighter ever but the design is gorgeous (though I have ruined a good portion of it by now by using it).
OMBRE PREMIÈRE LAQUE Longwear Liquid Eyeshadow looked interesting. I love a liquid or cream that stays put. Details per Chanel:
A longwearing liquid eyeshadow that leaves a metallic veil on lids for a mesmerizing look. One swipe delivers lustrous, buildable colour that can be smudged out easily with fingertips for a soft-focus effect. Apply to eyelids with fingertips, the included applicator or a CHANEL eyeshadow brush. Use a lighter shade to highlight cheekbones and the eye area.
I'm a huge fan of the Ombre Premiere in the pot format and I love cream eyeshadows so I grabbed two I thought I would like. These are a true liquid eyeshadow. They are thin, easy to build color and they do last all day without creasing. They start to fade after about 8 hours but for the most part they last well. I grabbed Quartz Rose and Desert Wind. Quartz Rose is a beautiful shimmering rose gold and Desert Wind is a shimmering cool mid-tone brown. Quartz Rose makes a nice cheek and brow highlighter as well. They blend together well so you can mix and match how you apply them. Desert Wind is sheer but it has enough coverage. Like a shimmering watercolor feel on the eyes. The only thing I don't like about it is the silver micro glitter in it. It's nice but I prefer the more subtle shimmer of the Rose Quartz shade.
Overall I think Rose Quartz was my favorite of the three. The colors are all stunning but none of the pieces actually blew me away. They're very nice for a subtle watercolor effect and the color palette of the collection is spot on. I would have loved some cream shadows in the pot in these colors or maybe some rouge cocos instead of matte lipsticks. I was tempted to get the Elemental quad but I only like two of the colors. I feel like I'm just getting too picky at my older age with makeup. I already have so much and I know what I won't wear so I find myself skipping things I would have previously bought on a whim ten years ago just because it was new or limited edition. Did you pick up anything from the spring CHANEL collection? Let me know what you liked.
