Colleen Rothschild was new to me last year. As an acid junkie I am always on the look out for the next favorite acid serum or toner. I have been loving mandelic acid lately as it's more gentle than the more popular sister glycolic acid. I was excited to grab this Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum. Details per Colleen Rothschild:
The Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum is a daily treatment that promotes cellular turnover, which addresses photo-aging, fine lines, acne, dark spots and overall skin texture. Derived from the bitter almond, Mandelic acid is a gentle yet highly effective alpha hydroxy acid (AHA).
Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum is formulated to gently exfoliate, dissolve and breakdown the tiny bonds between dull dead skin cells that sit on the skin’s surface. Over time, a brighter and more radiant complexion is unveiled.
Gentle enough for everyday use, the formula:
- Refines skin texture and tone
- Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Helps unclog pores and remove blackheads
- Inhibits dark spots and helps uneven skin tone
Colleen Rothschild Skincare is formulated with Level E3, an exclusive technology that helps key ingredients work harder and smarter.
Key Ingredients
- Mandelic Acid - Refines & resurfaces
- Lactic Acid - Improves tone & texture
- Salicylic Acid - Promotes clear skin
Mandelic acid is an alphahydroxy acid (AHA) like glycolic and lactic. It will help resurface the skin, exfoliate for a more even skin tone and help reveal a brighter more radiant complexion. Madelic acid is derived from bitter almonds and that actually gives it a sweet almond oil scent. If you've smelled sweet almond oil you know what I am talking about. Mandelic acid is the largest AHA molecule. Therefore it takes longer to penetrate the skin and it's less likely to cause irritation or side effects. It's what make mandelic acid more gentle. This can make it a more desirable acid for sensitive skin types.
This serum has a lightweight hydrating thin gel texture that absorbs quickly. It was pleasant to use, the scent is nice and I experienced no irritations from use. I love the glass bottle with a pump. The serum does give a nice glow and provides a gentle exfoliation. I quite liked it. If you're looking for something more gentle than glycolic acid this might be for you. You could also try using this on alternate nights of a glycolic acid to get a more gentle and rounded acid approach. This serum also contains lactic acid, salicylic acid for a more rounded acid plus green tea, vitamin C & multiple fruit extracts. I would easily repurchase this as it’s very nice.
