This week the weather is fully changed to spring and I've officially changed all my skincare drawers over to fit warmer weather. These are some of the things I've been liking in this transitional weather. I finally grabbed Dr Sam's Flawless Moisturizer and I'm really glad I did. Her skincare is a very no fuss minimalist line. It's fragrance free and has a nice light moisturizer feel. Like a heavier lotion or really light cream. It's a simple moisturizer but superb at what it does. The texture is phenomenal and it leaves my skin feeling amazing. Sometimes it's nice to have a simple product versus one that has everything. More to come.
I've really been gravitating to silicone free light primers for the last year or so. I've been testing the REN Perfect Canvas Finishing Serum and I really like it. It has a light serum texture that primes for makeup and adds a semi-matte finish. I love the ingredients-agave, probiotics, sodium hyaluronate and glucans. It's a primer perfect for summer. Ormonde Jayne just launched a new scent Cuir Imperial which is exclusive to Harrods in London. I love leather scents and the brand so I grabbed it. I have gotten so many compliments every time I wear it. It's got a heavier leather feel to it. This is definitely a deeper leather scent but it's so intoxicating.
- Top notes: Cognac oil, clary sage, bergamot, cardamom, pink pepper
- Middle notes: Leather and suede notes, Orris, saffron, rose absolute, freesia
- Base notes: Tonka, sandalwood, patchouli, cedar, vetiver, incense
Lilah b. launched a new Divine Duo Lip & Cheek shade exclusive to net-a-porter called b.incredible. It's a peachy pink perfect for spring and summer. It's my favorite shade they've launched to date. It's on the light end for me of blushes but it adds a nice natural spring flush to the cheeks. de Mamiel Pure Calm Cleansing Dew is one of my all time favorite cleansing oils. It's light and has an emulsifier so it rinses clean without a cloth. I love the light hint of blue tansy in this one. I find it so calming and soothing. I always get excited for a new Drunk Elephant launch. Slaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser is a rinseable cleansing balm. It's got a great price point and a huge tub. So it's a good deal. It's essential oil free and gets the job done. It doesn't leave any oils behind for me (all balms leave a little but it's light and doesn't require a cloth to remove). This one comes with a cool physical exfoliation bamboo/charcoal powder which is surprisingly gentle.
Acaderma is a new indie brand I discovered on Instagram. It combines cool new ingredients, science and a fairly clean approach to scientific skincare. The Oasis is a barrier repair serum perfect to test out during this transitional winter into spring season. The Oasis has a light hydrating texture and it has two powerful Sahara xerophytes African kinkeliba and cactus. Xerophytes withstand the harsh desert climate so theory is they help treat dehydrated and damaged skin. It's soothing on contact and I really want to test some more from the line as the texture is really fabulous, plus the fun new ingredients and cool packaging. I grabbed a few things from the Plantioxidants line during the A Night for Green Beauty last year. My favorite so far has been the Tea Tincture Toner has the most delicious inci list for a toner. It's got ginseng, rose water, rooibos, silver tips white & oolong teas, cactus, matcha, camu camu, acerola, chokecherry, coffee cherry, goji berry, cocoa extract, artichoke and acai. It's so yummy. More to come.
