Current Favorites & Product Obsessions

How are you all doing this week? I finally feel slightly calmer this week for some reason. I’ve got a bunch of new stuff to play with (what else is new). I’ve been reaching for two new The Inkey List products. The Oat Cleansing Balm is a rinsable cleansing balm with soothing oat kernel oil and colloidal oats. It’s thick so think balm cleanser in a tube. It doesn’t have any fragrance and should be suitable for most skin types especially sensitive. Oily skin may want a gel-oil balm cleanser over this but otherwise it should suit most. The Peptide Moisturizer is a new launch that I really wanted to get my hands on. It has a nice medium weight texture and glossy kind of appearance, It’s in an airless chunky pump. This is a fragrance free, affordable moisturizer meant to plump and support skins collagen. It’s nourishing yet not heavy at all. I think many will love it.

Drunk Elephant launched a whole line of body and hair products. The entire line is actually quite good. I’ve been really smitten with the Sili Body Lotion. At first I thought it was going to be too heavy but I loved how nourishing it was while sinking in with no residue. Really spectacular body lotion. More to come soon. African Botanics launched a bunch of new products and I’ve finally almost finished testing their new Retinal Night Cream. I love retinal because I find it effective and yet also with less side effects. When one of my favorite brands launches a new retinal product I am all in. This one did not disappoint. This has retinaldehyde, willow bark, lactic acid, azelaic acid, fulvic acid, cloud berry, marula, lupine, swiss apple stem cells, dragon’s blood, vitamin C, resveratrol, rooibos and rosehip. That’s just a fraction of the really stellar inci list it has. I expect such a great product from the brand and they have truly been killing it for the last two years with launches. More to come soon.

I grabbed two new liquid highlighters by Chanel. Not that I needed any but they looked really pretty and it is Chanel. The Le Blanc Rosy Light Drops and Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid in Pearly Glow are super thin and sheer sparkling liquid highlighting fluids. They aren’t really sheer nor really pigmented, kind of an in-between. The packaging is obviously stellar. The fluid can be used alone or mixed into foundation to impart a glow or illuminated look. Rosy Light is cooler and more light pink while Pearly Glow is more a light champagne beige. They do have that Chanel fragrance I could do without but it’s minimal compared to other products so that’s a plus. Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick remains a top favorite of mine. The packaging is luxe and top notch. I love the dewy radiance it gives the skin. Think light to medium coverage with a dewy finish. That’s my favorite kind of foundation. Review HERE. I wear shade VI if you’re curious. I found it the most neutral of the bunch as they tend to run a touch yellow.

Byredo Oliver Peoples was my first Byredo purchase. Sadly it was limited edition and I haven’t seen it on sale anywhere. But they tend to relaunch scents now and then so keep your eyes open if you were interested in it to begin with. The heart highlights iris and patchouli, while the base provides depth and warmth to aromas of sand, musk and immortelle. This is one of those woody, sea scents with a hint of citrus. Notes: Top notes: juniper berries, California lemon; Middle notes: orris butter, patchouli fraction; Base notes: musk, warm sand accord, helichrysum. I have been so obsessed with my själ cela intuitif cream lately. It has the juiciest lush cream texture. Like one of those ones you put your finger in and think OMG that’s really nice. I also love their cool square packaging. It’s a lighter cream so it was day use in the winter and I’ve been able to use it more in the warmer months at night. It has peptides, pearl, licorice and plant extracts for brightening. Designed for oily to combination skin this is supposed to brighten, reduce pores, promote cellular renewal and has antioxidants. The texture is really nice and I think I need the heavier cream now.
