DAFNA'S REVIVAL Bio-Active Beauty Mask

DAFNA'S is a fairly new brand to me. I discovered it in the December Boxwalla subscription box. I decided to grab their new REVIVAL Bio-Active Beauty Mask because it looked so interesting. Details per DAFNA'S:

A unique combination of bio-active ingredients such as Capsulated Charcoal, Hyaluronic Acid, Ginseng and Reishi formulated to transforms your skin, bringing back its vitality. Skin becomes remarkably soft, radiant, hydrated and recovered from daily stressful agents such as free radicals which results in balanced complexation and even look.

REVIVAL mask is based on two bio-active phases:

  • The first one provides skin with intensive hydration by low-weight- molecules hyaluronic acid, combined with energizing, regenerating skin cells of Ginseng and Reishi.
  • The second phase activates the capsulated Charcoal, originated from Coco, which effectively “magnetizes” free radicals at the surface of the skin, inhibiting skin oxidation while promoting balanced complexation and even look.

Revival bioactive mask is designed for people who live a stressful life style (caused by work, city life, parenthood, lack of sleep etc.) and or need to hydrate and nurture their skin.

The uniqueness of REVIVAL:

  • 3 actions at the same mask: hydrate, nurture and reduces impact of free radicals .
  • Capsulated charcoal maximizes the efficacy of the Charcoal – you active it only when needed to its full power.
  • Does not dry or irritates the skin as other Charcoal masks.

Active Ingredients:

Ginseng Nutritious herb used for generation in Chinese traditions. Rich in vitamins, antioxidants and phytonutrients, which helps to enhance collagen production, combat environmental pollution, and create more balanced skin texture.

Reishi Mushroom. Known as the Mushroom of Immortality and is used widely in China. Rich in beta-glucans which promote healthy cell growth and turnover.

Capsulated Charcoal activated carbon originated from Coco. Has the magnificent ability to “capture” free radicals in our skin which cause premature skin ageing and uneven skin tone. Capsulated Charcoal are highly effective as they are activated only when needed.

Sodium Hyaluronate Hyaluronic acid salt, which are extreme low molecules that penetrate all skin levels to effectively hydrate it. Vegan.

This is the most interesting textured mask ever. It's got a light whipped white creamy base with little charcoal spheres. You apply this in a unique way as well. Suggested application:

Phase 1 Tap mask into clean and dry face. Mask should remain white-cream color with black spots. Leave to act 5-10 minutes.

Phase 2 with damp hands, massage the mask for about a minute, until all Charcoal capsules are merged to the mask and it changes color to grey. Leave to act 3-5 minutes. Wash Mask and apply daily moisture.

So I apply this creamy white mask as it says leaving the charcoal spheres intact. The white base is a creamy hydrating mask. It actually has a bit of kaolin clay in it, though to be honest I never would have been able to tell that from the texture or how it feels on my skin. It feels like a hydrating, whipped creamy style mask. I leave on for ten minutes as I find it as non-drying and non-irritating as possible. It never dries down and stays creamy and moist. It's light, isn't heavy or suffocating & doesn't smell like much. I get a creamy kind of basic mask or face cream scent. So it should be fine for all the sensitive people.

You leave it on for five to ten minutes (I do ten) then vigorously rub the charcoal spheres to break them up. This turns the mask a light gray color. This is the second phase of the mask-the deep detox/purifying phase. You leave this one for three to five minutes (I do five). The little charcoal spheres never all break up. I have been unsuccessful at getting them all to rub in completely. I would have to sit there and literally poke each one with my finger to smash it and I'm just not convinced you need to go that far. Most of them break up and meld with the white base.

The base of the mask has aloe, shea butter, kaolin clay, sodium hyaluronate, panax ginseng, ginkgo biloba, geranium flower oil, rose flower water, rosa canina oil, reishi mushroom & green tea leaf extract. This mask is an all in one as it has hydrating (shea butter, aloe and sodium hyaluronate), detox/purifying (kaolin & charcoal, ginseng), antioxidant (green tea, ginseng, ginkgo, reishi), soothing/anti-inflammatory (aloe, rose flower water, reishi) & regenerative (reishi, ginseng) ingredients. It really hits all the bases minus exfoliating (which it does not need to be). I love multi-tasking products like this that are quick (fifteen minutes tops) and are able to do it all. This is comfortable to wear the entire time, it never dries out. My skin is left soft, subtle, completely hydrated and smoother. It seems to just make my skin feel happy, balanced and radiant. Plus it very fun to apply and use.

I can't wait to explore the DAFNA'S range more in the future. I love their sleek black glass packaging. Very luxe and minimal, my favorite style. Cleanbeautymart.com is the only place I found to get this brand in the US which is where I got mine.
