Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream

I will admit I was not a big fan of the original Drunk Elephant Lala. It was too heavy for my tastes. I was excited to see Drunk Elephant had reformulated Lala Retro Whipped Cream. Details per Drunk Elephant:

Introducing a multi-faceted rescue cream that provides replenishing barrier support by reinforcing skin's acid mantle and defending against the effects of everyday stressors.

This multi-faceted rescue cream, infused with six rare African oils and plant ceramide complex, provides replenishing barrier support by reinforcing skin's acid mantle and defending against the effects of everyday stressors. Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer easily soaks in to release intense hydration. In addition, antioxidant-rich fermented green tea helps combat signs of aging. Loaded with omega acids, Lala helps skin retain long-lasting moisture, forming a protective layer that allows skin to function at its optimal level. Lala Retro™ is a whipped, dream-come-true for tired, dry skin.

Formulated at an ideal (and skin friendly) pH level of 5.2, Lala Retro™ has the luxurious texture of a rich face cream, without feeling suffocating or heavy.

100% Free of essential oils, silicones and fragrance. Vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free.

They changed the packaging slightly. It feels a touch lighter with a more angled top. Same airless pump in general. The cream has a light creamy texture with a medium weight. It's fragrance free. This cream has ceramides which the old formula didn't. Ceramides help prevent TEWL (Trans Epidermal Water Loss) and maintain a healthy moisture barrier. Ceramides are naturally present in the skin so helping to replenish them helps with healthy skin. This cream is such an improvement I love it. It's lighter and has a creamier finish than before plus it sinks into the skin like a dream. Huge improvement. It doesn't really feel whipped to me anymore, not like it used to. It just has a nice light creamy finish.

In addition to the new ceramides this has a six African oil blend and a sodium hyaluronate cross-polymer for hydration. I could see mixing this with Protini for a nice cocktail. For now this makes a great summer night moisturizer. It'll probably be a good winter day moisturizer. I'm not sure if Lala can handle winter nights for my drier skin but I use balms all winter at night anyway so I'm not worried about that. I can see some others who liked the more hydrating old version being upset this is a bit lighter. I personally love the change and  think it will help this cream suit be more suitable for all skin types. I think it was 100% an improvement. I didn't like it before and now I'm in love with its lighter touch and creamy texture.

Directions Apply a pump of Lala Retro™ anytime to clean, dry skin. Mix with any Drunk Elephant serum, oil as part of a total skin-care solution.
