I've been wanting to talk about a few things I grabbed from EIGHTH DAY for a while. Developed by dermatologist Dr. Tony Nakhla EIGHTH DAY is a clean, upscale, paraben/sulfate/PEG and fragrance free line. I was originally drawn to the line as it uses stem cell proteins. It combines the proteins with ingredients like manuka honey, ceramides, lentil seed, arnica, amla & shea butter. During Black Friday I grabbed most the line and I'll talk about the Facial Tonic & Cleansing Gel first. The eye cream review is next I promise. The packaging is all in pearly white plastic with rose gold metallic accents. I like the slim look of the toner and cleansing gel. The Facial Tonic is an acid toner. Details per EIGHTH DAY:
A twice-daily, mini-chemical peel in a bottle, designed to protect, balance, and normalize your skin pH. EIGHTH DAY Facial Tonic harnesses the power of fruit-derived Alpha & Poly Hydroxy Acids and sebum regulating technology to help reduce the appearance of pores and improve skin texture. Lactic & Glycolic Acids.
Directions In the morning and evening after cleansing, pump liberally onto cotton or into palms and smooth evenly onto face and neck.
Key Ingredients
Lentil Seed
Orchid
Plumeria
Ingredients Water (Aqua), Lactic Acid, Sodium Lactate, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Seed Extract, Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana Bark/Leaf/Twig Extract, Gluconolactone, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Zingiber Officinale Root Extract, Plumeria Acutifolia Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Orchis Morio Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Isopulegol, Vanillyl Butyl Ether, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate.
I actually really liked this acid toner. It has a blend of lactic & glycolic acid (AHAs) with polyhydroxy acid (PHA) gluconolactone. PHAs are new generation less irritating acids that also have antioxidant benefits. This toner also has lentil extract (tightens and refines pores), cucumber extract (soothing), witch hazel (astringent, pore & inflammation reducing), sodium hyaluronate (hydrating), panthenol (soothing), ginger (antioxidant), frangipani (antioxidant, anti-inflammatory), green tea (antioxidant), orchid (anti-aging, antioxidant) & aloe (soothing).
This acid toner actually packs a punch. You can feel it tingle and warm up on the skin a bit. I don't know the percentage of acids in this but it feels around 10% at least. It's not harsh and I never felt like it was too much, but it was quite effective. I would definitely think about repurchasing this one as it's well rounded and it was just really nice to use.
The Cleansing Gel is the brands only cleanser. I'm not a huge cleansing gel fan though I do think they have their place in the shower. I tend to use them 3-4x a week in the morning only. Details per EIGHTH DAY:

Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Papain, Bromelain, Probiotics (L. Acidophilus, L. Plantarum, L. Casei, L. Paracasei, L. Rhamnosus, L. Crispatus, L. Bulgaricus, L. Reuteri, L. Fermentum, L. Salivarius, L. Helveticus, B. Lactis, B. Bifidum, B. Breve, B. Longum, B. Infantis, S. This is a nice gel cleanser. It's not drying and feels gentle yet it cleans well. It's got papain & bromelain enzymes for gentle exfoliation. This also has probiotics (quite a few actually compared to the normal one or two), ginger, frangipani, green tea, orchid & aloe. This one has a pH around 5.5 so it's perfect in order to not mess with your skins natural barrier. I'm trying to use gel cleansers with a pH of 6.5 or below in order to not strip my skin long term (high pH cleansers can strip your natural barrier causing issues with repeated use).
I love that the line is mostly fragrance free. There are a few essential oils but nothing major. Rosemary and lavender can help clear pores and keep skin clear. I grabbed these as buy one get one during the sale so it was totally worth it. I don't know if I would repurchase the cleansing gel with the higher price tag it has. Mostly because I have an over abundance of gel cleansers and two they're not my favorite (I love oil based cleansers). Gel cleansers serve their purpose and this is a nice one. During the Black Friday sale if I ended up with it I would still use it. That says enough because I get rid of a lot of gel cleansers (I have too many I can't use them before they go bad).
