Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask

Two years ago I posted about the new Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask which was the beginning of the Glow Recipe brand. Glow Recipe curates K Beauty and sells it on their website. I've gotten quite a few good things from the Glow Recipe site. Glow Recipe just launched a new Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask. Details per Glow Recipe:

Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask is a creamy yet breathable sleeping mask that nourishes and softens dry, tired skin overnight. It’s a quick fix to eliminating dry flakes and dull skin. Try it once and you’ll want to #avocuddle all the time, trust us.

Key Ingredients:

AVOCADO 74% of this creamy formula is made from four forms of avocado: avocado fruit, avocado extract, avocado oil, and avocado butter. We packed in as much of this magical fruit as possible because it’s rich in oleic and linoleic acid (so it’s deeply nourishing).

MANUKA HONEY Contains the enzyme Methylglyoxal (MGO), which has higher levels of antibacterial properties than other types of honey. MGO helps defend your skin against environmental stressors that can cause premature aging and visibly firm and moisturize skin. Pretty sweet.

PHA The gentle giant of chemical exfoliators, PHA helps buff away dead skin cells to reveal your glowiest skin ever. Because of its large molecular structure, it’s really gentle so it safe for even the most sensitive of skin types.

KAOLIN We added a pinch of this gentle clay to help balance skin and make pores super happy.

Directions:

AS A REJUVENATING SLEEPING MASK Use the spatula to scoop 1 dime-sized amount onto skin as the final step of the evening routine. Gently pat into the skin for optimal absorption. Wash thoroughly in the morning. Use daily if desired.

AS A WASH OFF MASK Use the spatula to scoop the mask and gently spread a thick layer across a cleansed face from forehead to chin (avoiding direct contact with eye and lip areas). Rinse with lukewarm water after 10 minutes. Use two to three times a week. For sensitive skin types start by using 2-3 times a week and use more frequently if your skin loves the formula.

I love the fun glass jar this is packaged in. That was one of the things I loved about the watermelon mask as well. The product has a thick creamy texture and a pistachio green color. You can use this two ways-as a wash off mask or a sleeping mask. Most sleeping masks are really just a targeted night cream that you use now and then (unless it's a thinner textured gel one then I layer it under night cream). I have not tried this as a wash off mask. I'm feeling very mask lazy lately so sleeping masks are definitely my favorite as of late. This avocado one has enough moisture to last the night as a night cream for me. Not all sleeping masks can replace my night cream hydration wise. This one can. So it's thick, creamy and hydrates all night long. It's light green and I expected it to smell like creamy avocado. Oddly it smells like a floral peach. It's got to be the apple and lavender/geranium in the mask as there's no added fragrance. It's not unpleasant or anything, just odd and not what I expected.

So this sleeping mask aka night cream has avocado fruit, butter and oil (hydrating, rich in fatty acids), rosemary, geranium & lavender water, apple fruit water and oil (antioxidant), honey (antibacterial, soothing, moisturizing, nutrient rich), Gluconolactone (PHA-Poly Hydroxy Acid, gentle exfoliant, antioxidant), kaolin clay (detox, balance), rosewood, skullcap (antioxidant, soothing), peony (brighten), licorice (brighten) & spirulina (blue green algae, antibacterial, antioxidant).

I loved this combo of nourishing avocado (I'm a huge fan of the fruit), nutrient rich honey and a hint of clay to detox & balance the skin. Poly Hydroxy Acids are gentle on the skin as the molecules are larger so this will give a gentle overnight exfoliation. In combination with the balancing clay and antibacterial honey this sleeping mask will not only nourish and hydrate but it will help keep pores clear at the same time. Glow Recipe managed to make this mask hydrating, nourishing, pore clearing, balancing, detoxifying and gently exfoliating with antioxidant free radical protection. It's got it all. It leaves my skin hydrated and looking rejuvenated by the next morning. I love the clay, honey and PHA twists on a creamy sleeping mask. It's also ultra affordable. It's not the most hydrating cream I have for winter (plus I live in balms all winter long anyway) so this will be a warmer weather staple for me.
